Today we’d like to introduce you to Krisztina Konya
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born in Eastern Europe, specifically in Romania, but I am Hungarian by nationality. Growing up during communism, I experienced scarcity and the reality of not having enough. Despite these challenges, I always excelled in school. My family had high hopes for me, envisioning a future where I would become a doctor or lawyer. Being the firstborn and my grandfather’s favourite brought a lot of pressure to always be the best.
After the regime changed and Western culture began to influence Eastern Europe, everything shifted dramatically. During my teenage years, I embraced a rebellious and self-destructive lifestyle. However, my love for reading never waned. Books, in three different languages, transported me to new places and filled me with knowledge and the courage to dream. I always felt there was something greater out there for me, though I did struggle with my faith for a time.
In a bold move driven by my ego and a desire to prove myself, I ran away from home with just a backpack and moved to a different country. Naturally, not everything turned out as planned. It’s clear to me now that when you’re caught up in the story, perspective is often lost.
The birth of my daughter in 2011 was a pivotal moment. I knew I had to change. In 2014, we moved to London, UK, and my journey of self-discovery began. With no mentor, just books, videos, and a strong desire to transform, I started my path of self-improvement and shadow work. I earned a degree in business management and opened my own company.
This journey led me to a profound realization: if I could transform my life from where I started to where I am now, anyone can. This realization sparked my passion for women’s empowerment. Today, I work with women from around the world, collaborating with NGOs in Africa and various communities. As an accredited training provider, I teach holistic leadership. I am also an international peace ambassador, amongst many other roles and hats I am wearing.
While there’s always room for improvement, what has truly changed is my mindset, attitude, self-awareness, and a deep understanding of who I am. My journey has taught me that there’s always more to achieve, and I am committed to continuing this path of growth and empowerment.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been smooth; it has been filled with numerous challenges and obstacles. Growing up in a communist country, I experienced scarcity and a lack of resources, which instilled a strong sense of resilience in me from an early age. The pressure to excel academically and meet my family’s high expectations was immense, often leaving me feeling like I had to be perfect in everything I did. Or it was the pressure I put on myself? Maybe both a little.
The transition after the regime change in Eastern Europe brought about a cultural upheaval that further complicated my journey. As a teenager, I struggled with identity and direction, leading me to a rebellious and self-destructive phase. Although I continued to do well in school, the internal turmoil and lack of faith in myself and the world around me often clouded my path.
Many times, my actions, driven by ego and a desire to prove myself, resulted in several setbacks. Navigating life, dealing adjustments, and facing the reality of starting over from scratch were significant struggles.
The birth of my daughter in 2011 was a turning point, but it also brought its own set of challenges. As a new mother, I had to balance my responsibilities while striving to transform my life. Depression, anxiety, stress – were familiar. As I said, the move to London in 2014 marked the beginning of my self-discovery journey, which was anything but easy. Without a mentor or guide, I had to rely solely on books, videos, and my inner drive to change. This process of shadow work and self-improvement was intense and required immense perseverance.
Starting my own company and pursuing a degree in business management were significant milestones, but they came with their own hurdles. Building a business from the ground up, especially as an immigrant, involved navigating complex systems, overcoming financial constraints, and dealing with self-doubt.
However, each struggle taught me invaluable lessons and contributed to my growth. These experiences have shaped who I am today and fuelled my passion for women’s empowerment. The journey has been challenging, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. Through it all, I have learned the importance of resilience, self-awareness, and maintaining a positive mindset. Every obstacle has been a stepping stone towards becoming the person I am today, committed to helping others overcome their struggles and achieve their full potential.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a spiritual mentor and certified life coach, specializing in both life coaching and spiritual life coaching. My work is deeply rooted in the principles of energy healing, and I am an Usui Reiki Master Teacher and Reiki Solas Master Teacher. Additionally, I work with crystals and various energy healing techniques, which allows me to offer a holistic approach to personal growth and healing.
One of my greatest passions is working with women, guiding them on their journeys of personal development, growth, and reconnection with themselves. I have developed my own coaching programs that focus on these areas, helping women to rediscover their inner strength, purpose, and potential. My approach is comprehensive, addressing the mind, body, and spirit to foster a complete transformation.
I also have a specialized program on holistic leadership, where I share insights on leadership from a unique perspective. This program emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and a balanced approach to leadership, integrating spiritual principles with practical strategies. It’s designed to inspire and empower leaders to lead with authenticity, compassion, and integrity.
In addition to my coaching and mentoring work, my company supports start-ups, medium, and small-sized businesses in elevating their operations to the next level. We offer tailored strategies and solutions that help businesses grow, innovate, and thrive in their respective industries. This dual focus on personal and professional development allows me to impact both individuals and organizations positively.
I am most proud of the transformations I witness in my clients. Seeing women step into their power, overcome their challenges, and achieve their goals is incredibly rewarding. My holistic approach, which combines spiritual practices with practical coaching techniques, sets me apart from others. I believe in the power of integrating all aspects of one’s being to create lasting change and fulfilment.
What truly distinguishes my work is my deep commitment to personal growth and self-awareness. I not only teach these principles but live by them, constantly striving to evolve and improve. This authenticity and dedication resonate with my clients, helping them to trust the process and fully engage in their own journeys of transformation.
Ultimately, my mission is to empower individuals and businesses to reach their highest potential by aligning with their true selves and purpose. Through my work, I aim to create a ripple effect of positive change, helping others to lead more fulfilling, impactful, and harmonious lives.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Absolutely! Finding a mentor and effective networking are both crucial elements for personal and professional growth. Before seeking a mentor, it’s important to understand what you want to achieve. Having clear goals will help you find someone whose expertise aligns with your aspirations and makes it easier for potential mentors to see how they can assist you.
Start with the people you already know. Family, friends, colleagues, or even acquaintances might have connections to potential mentors, so don’t hesitate to ask for introductions. Joining professional associations, groups, or clubs related to your field can open many doors, as these platforms often host networking events, workshops, and seminars where you can meet like-minded individuals and potential mentors.
Attending industry-specific conferences and workshops is another excellent way to meet experienced professionals. These settings are conducive to learning and making meaningful connections. Utilizing social media platforms is also highly effective for networking. Joining relevant groups, participating in discussions, and reaching out to people who inspire you can help start valuable connections. A thoughtful message can go a long way.
Networking is a two-way street, so think about what you can offer in return. Whether it’s a skill, knowledge, or support, showing that you can provide value makes the relationship mutually beneficial. People are more likely to connect with you if you are genuine. Share your story, your passions, and your challenges honestly. Authenticity builds trust and stronger relationships.
For me, the combination of these strategies has been very effective. I have found mentors through professional groups, social media, and by simply reaching out to individuals whose work I admire. Being clear about my goals and showing a genuine interest in others’ journeys has helped me build meaningful connections.
Additionally, continuous learning and self-improvement have been essential. Reading extensively, attending workshops, and staying updated with industry trends keep me engaged and knowledgeable, making it easier to connect with others in meaningful ways.
Remember, building a network and finding a mentor is a journey. It takes time, patience, and effort, but the relationships you build will be incredibly rewarding and beneficial for your personal and professional development.
