Today we’d like to introduce you to Juliette Lagman.
Hi Juliette , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I went to art school and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001. For over 20 years I worked in the corporate world focusing on Customer Service and Art whilst woking on my art on the side. in 2023 my step mother passed away and shortly after my Husband was disgnosed with Prostate Cancer. I quit my job and then shortly returned to another 9-5 position out of fear. Not long after (in 2024) I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. So, last September I quit my job and hired a life coach. I also started working with an Energy Healer. Both of these things were very impactful on my life. I had been writing a book BE LIKE WATER -n a visual memoir (my second one) throughout 2024 – and published the book in September 2024.
I started a podcast called Permission Granted in November – all about living your dreams and what is holding you back – or what took you over the edge to take the leap and live your dreams. This podcast will inform my next book.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a lot of tears, pain, and joy. Some of the struggles have included doubting myself, recovering from radiation, loss of a friendship, loss of pets, a small car accident, food poisoning, financial insecurity, etc…
But through it all, I have dealt with it well – and the overarching theme is joy and freedom. It IS absolutely all worth it!! Stuff is going to always happen – it’s all in how you react to it.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My artwork includes a lot of self portraiture, words (handwriting), and mixed media. I have started using this work in my books – and it’s been revolutionary. My latest book – BE LIKE WATER – a visual memoir – was such a healing journey. Finding freedom through forgiveness. It turned out better than I could have imagined, and brought me to a bigger life than I could have ever dreamed.
My podcast – Permission Granted is such a passion project. I am loving learning about folks and new healing modalities. Everyone has a story – I want to hear it.
