Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Patrick Moore.
Hi Joseph Patrick, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Music has been around me ever since I can remember. As a small child when I was just able to stand, my mother told me I used to relentlessly hit the piano keys for amusement. As I grew older, I participated in the school band program from 4th grade through high school graduation. I attended college at The University of TN (and later the University of Memphis) as a performance major in Jazz and Classical.
During this time, I was also gigging with many local bands and started doing Studio sessions. I started to tour and lived a life for the most part, on the road from 1993 through 2016. You can visit my website for a more in-depth list of artists I’ve worked with.
In 2017 I moved to my current home of Las Vegas and currently play bass with Cirque Du Soleil’s production and Las Vegas Residency, Mystére.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a Musician (both Live and in the Studio) is a very rewarding career, however, it certainly has its own set of challenges. Creating art and releasing it unto the world is a reward all in itself. It’s a journey for sure…
That said, there are many times when the life of an artist is unpredictable and unstable. There will always be obstacles and challenges, but you have to learn how to weather the storm so to speak. As I’m sure it is with most occupations, it is not always a smooth ride.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a bass player, composer, and producer. I’m currently the bassist and Back-Up-Band Leader/Assistant Music Director for the Cirque Du Soleil Las Vegas residency show, “Mystere”. I started on January 1, 2022, and have played 400+ shows this year. Prior to Cirque Du Soleil, I’ve released many solo projects under my name and have toured/recorded/worked with many artists such as Earl Klugh, Stewart Copeland, Bob James, Col. Bruce Hampton, Bo Bice (American Idol), Chris Duarte and many others.
Additionally, I’m involved in a record label – BlueCanoeRecords.com
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my artistic journey is – “by any means necessary”. What I mean by this statement is you have to find ways to be creative and new ways to introduce your art. It’s not about the gear or tools you have or don’t have, it’s simply about doing and being the best with what you have to work with.
