Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Starks
Hi Jessica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born a writer. As a child, I created short stories for my family and gave them as birthday gifts. I started my freelance writing career in my senior year of high school.
While I initially thought I was going to use my writing skills in one medium, my journey finding work after college and being exposed to different industries and possibilities showed me that I could use my talents in several different ways – I didn’t have to limit myself to books or blog posts if I didn’t want to. That’s how I started my first business, J.D. Scribes. We provide content creation, social media management, writing services, and more to our clients to help them build their brands and stay relevant in the marketplace.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been rocky at times, but I thank God that it wasn’t as hard as it could have been! I think, for me, one of the main struggles was the process of growing up with my business. Starting at a young age, it can sometimes be hard to find people who understand you because you’re not on the same path, and sometimes I found myself struggling to separate my individual self from my business. As I got older, I saw even more how prevalent ageism, racism, and sexism were in the professional world. Nonetheless, I always managed to push through.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At J.D. Scribes, we specialize in our content writing services, but we are known for our ability to serve our clients with patience, mindless, and understanding. I believe what sets us apart from other companies is the fact that we are willing to admit when we don’t know something or aren’t strong in a specific service. Transparency is always key in my book.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always more than happy to collaborate and work with new people!
