Today we’d like to introduce you to Jermel Wilson
Hi Jermel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Jermel Wilson was born in Brooklyn, New York. As a child, Jermel was fascinated by art and performing arts. He started out his acting career in high school in his senior year. Jermel has appeared in such films as A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints (2006), Fighting (2009), MTV’s Yo Momma Season 2 promo. Jermel was a cast member of the Emmy nominated Bronx SIU. Jermel appears in Season 1 and season 2 as Jerome/Manuel Gonzalez an Undercover detective. Also a cast member of the comedy short Five Stars as Marvin. Five Stars was nominated for 8 awards in multiple film festivals and won 6 and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival.Performed stand up Caroline’s comedy club twice. Jermel also has trained for stunts for the last 2 years on and off.
Jermel is also rapper also know as Franky Steel and Starting his own entertainment company called Focus Mindz Entertainment which specializes in Music, Film, Television and New Media. He is still pursuing his career in entertainment and is an great asset to any production he is apart of.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The field of entertainment is never an easy one throughout my 26 years I’ve learned that in order to make in this business you have to wear a lot hats. That’s why I utilize all my sills whether it be acting, stunts, rapping, stand up comedy, song and screen writing. I’m in control of my destiny and no one is going to stop me from seeing my full potential. I’m the only one that could get in my way and I don’t plan on stopping
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Acting, Stunts, Stand up Comedy, Rapping, Song and Screenwriting . I’m proud of all my skills because you get to see different sides or me and different levels of my talent. What sets me apart of from other is my humility just because I’m in the entertainment industry I don’t think I’m better than anyone. We all have the same opportunities afford to us I just took advantage of mines you could too. I never let anyone tell me what I can’t do I just show them what I can do. I love when people doubt me because I prove them wrong every time. I’ve been doing it for 26 years. I only know how to do me I ain’t worried about what everyone else is doing I just focused on doing better and becoming better
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Staying humble, working hard, showing up, doing the work, planning, steady progress you use all that it’s no way you can’t succeed. The only one that could stop you is you
