Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Michael Night
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As far as writing is concerned, I’ve always admired great stories. Whether in books, movies, video games, or any other medium. I’ve had a story in my head for a decade, especially one scene in particular that I finally decided to write when COVID hit and my regular escapes weren’t working. That led me to actually finish the book and start planning out further into this incredible world that I’d created. And, even more miraculous, people seem to enjoy the books that I wrote. I just recently had a video go viral where certain TikTok icons like Mama Tot (Ophelia) and Ginger Jack have offered to read or have already read one of my stories.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has been incredibly difficult, and the majority of what I’ve learned-and I’ve learned a lot- has been mainly through mistakes. The biggest challenge for Indie Authors is getting exposure and having people actually read our books. And there is a certain dark underbelly in the online Book World (on almost all media platforms) of scammers promising new authors to help with this in exchange for money. I’ve been blessed enough to try most of them with less-than-ideal results. A video I recently posted about a book influencer on TikTok scamming myself and other authors went viral. If it weren’t for the kindness of the book community on TikTok coming to our defense, I would still be struggling to be seen.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My favorite part of the book process is the artwork. Whether in designing the book covers, book boxes, character art, etc. I don’t have a ton of talent myself in actually creating the art, but I’ve found people who are incredible at making my ideas come to life. I’m mainly known for my fancy bookboxes on my website. And hopefully, known a bit for my funny TikTok videos. I don’t know if I’m anybody important enough to be separated from others, but I just try to be myself and to write fun stories that hopefully bring people together for a good escape. .

The support I’ve received in the last week has been incredible! I appreciate any interactions, likes, comments, or shares on my TikTok account (where I’m mostly on). I try to read and respond to everyone in some way, depending on how much time I have.
