Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamel Mcduffie

Hi Jamel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.

At the ages 14 & 15 despite me being pretty good at sports I realized politics and things I can’t control such as my height & size were likely to put me at great disadvantages. So I began to evaluate my personal strengths & weaknesses outside of sports which led me to creativity. Being inspired by shows like Avatar the Last Airbender & Arrow as well as musicians such Kendrick Lamar & Travis Scott, I recognized my strong connection to artistry & storytelling. I then began writing a both reflective & fictional story about my life & events that has taken place through my lens. Which lead me to my current creative name, Kid Rage. Being hesitant to share my ideas for directing, writing & art for a while I took a chance & bought a camera my 16th birthday & started my film production company, Kid Rage Productions. I since found a love & appreciation for fashion & designing as well during 2022. Wanting to simply put my own ideas into existence through clothe, my peers took a liking and my first product sold out within 3 days. To this date, I have now sold & distributed over 400 units. I have connected with celebrities such as Queen Naija & Clarence White & I am beginning to nationally expand & learn this facet of my creative journey. Long-term I seek to write, direct & even start in high-production motion picture. I envision myself curating substantial originality with the competitive world of fashion. I foresee myself potentially being a voice for others like myself & helping the next generation inspired individuals. In conclusion, my goals besides personal endeavors as a director and entrepreneur are to inspire & education others through way of self-expression, artistry & dialogue.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

Just like anything worth perpetual success, my road hasn’t been smooth & will likely continue to challenge me. Here’s a list of adversities I have faced or may be currently experiencing:

– Independently having to learn without a lot of guidance from people in my desired professions
– Lack of consistent cash flow or having plateaus/barriers financially
– Lack of expansion & education on social media algorithms
– Little representation or support for individuals who may come from ethnic background being a person of color

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

I am a Film Director, Fashion Designer, Actor & Entrepreneur. I specialize in directing short films, music videos & creative projects. As well as acting and designing/selling clothing evenly supporting those skill sets. It’s difficult to choose particular things I’m proud of as I appreciate all my works for different reasons. However I would say my most recent films & my clothing collection are by far my most pivotal & appreciated showings. My film “Professional Sunseekers” is likely the most mature visual I’ve released thus far.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?

I had a pretty enjoyable childhood so choosing one is difficult. Any moment spending time with friends, family & sports are my favorites.
