Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Talbert
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Photography started as a hobby for me—a way to capture the little moments that meant so much in my own life. Over time, I realized how much joy it brought me to preserve those fleeting, authentic emotions for others. What began as snapping photos for friends and family grew into a passion, then a business.
Today, Hannah Talbert Photography is all about celebrating people’s stories, their milestones, and the connections that make their lives unique. I feel lucky to do what I love, especially in places like Hampton Roads and Charleston, SC, where the scenery and community inspire me daily. Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of embracing imperfection, capturing raw emotions, and balancing life as a business owner, a mom, and an artist.
It’s been a journey, and I’m grateful for every step that brought me to this point.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but every bump in the road has helped shape who I am as a photographer. Early on, I wrestled with the usual growing pains—figuring out my style, learning the ropes of running a business, and trusting myself to deliver work that genuinely resonates with people.
Balancing the creative side with the logistics of running a business has been a challenge, too, but one I’ve grown to love. There’s something so fulfilling about figuring out how to bring my vision to life while keeping things organized and client-focused.
Each challenge has been an opportunity to grow, and I’m grateful for the lessons they’ve taught me. Those moments of growth have allowed me to pour even more heart into what I do—and that’s been the best part of the journey.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer who focuses on capturing authentic, meaningful moments that reflect the essence of people’s lives. Whether it’s a military homecoming, a boudoir session, or family portraits, I aim to tell a story through my lens—one that feels true to my clients and their unique experiences.
I think what sets me apart is my commitment to creating a space where people feel comfortable being themselves. I’m not just there to take pictures; I want to connect, laugh, and help my clients feel seen and celebrated. That connection is what makes the final images so special.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing my work resonate with others, whether it’s someone cherishing photos of a fleeting season in their life or feeling confident after a session they were nervous about. It’s an incredible feeling to know that my work becomes part of their story, and that’s why I love what I do.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The COVID-19 crisis was a real eye-opener for me, both personally and professionally. When everything slowed down, so did my business, and it forced me to pause and rethink how I approached things. It wasn’t easy, but that time gave me space to refine my workflow and focus on building stronger connections with my clients.
One big lesson was just how important it is to document life’s moments. During such an uncertain time, I realized even more deeply how meaningful it is to preserve memories—not just for my clients but for myself, too.
I also learned to appreciate the slower pace. As challenging as it was, it gave me a chance to reset and find clarity about the direction I wanted to take with my work. Sometimes the toughest seasons really do bring the most growth.
