Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Lauren Dick
Hi Emily Lauren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a creative marketer with over 10 years of experience in various roles, including freelance copywriting and content creation, design, and running my own photography studio. I also spent a decade working full-time as a marketing manager for a local franchise.
I also wrote and photographed a book called Body Positive, which was published in 2021. I gained such valuable experience throughout this process, bootstrapping my efforts every step of the way. I took charge of my public relations, built my online platform, launched a podcast, and became a speaker and workshop provider for online and in-person events.
My entrepreneurial path has been filled with exciting detours and discoveries. One of those was coaching women, a natural fit with my author and activism work. While I loved empowering women, I found myself drawn to helping them specifically with their businesses – their marketing and design. This realization sparked a powerful idea to combine my passion for supporting women with my creative marketing expertise. And with that, The Bootstrapped Woman was born!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been an adventure, not a straight line! It was definitely not a smooth road, but that’s what made it so rewarding. I’ve embraced the detours and “mistakes” along the way, recognizing them as valuable learning experiences that shaped the path that I’m on now.
Each venture, even those that weren’t the perfect fit, equipped me with essential skills and knowledge that I now leverage in my branding and website design business.
I’ve changed my mind several times along the way, but each decision I’ve made got me closer to figuring out what I wanted to do next, and that’s all I could ask for. It would be pretty boring if it weren’t this way!
One of the best things I’ve learned from being an entrepreneur is that confidence isn’t a result of always getting it right. It comes from trying, failing, learning, and trying again.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At The Bootstrapped Woman, I empower women entrepreneurs to break free from societal constraints and build impactful businesses through strategic branding and website design.
I’m known for inspiring women to build brands that reflect their values.
I’m most proud of witnessing my clients step into their power and embrace their authentic selves in business while reaching their business and financial goals.
In my own entrepreneurial journey, a deep understanding of women’s experiences and commitment to social impact set me apart. I believe in using business as a force for good and empowering women to create positive change in the world.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Early on, I was all about pushing, forcing, and making things happen sheerly through willpower. But I’ve learned that sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is step back and trust the universe, allowing things to unfold naturally.
It’s about knowing when to push forward with focused action and when to surrender to the flow, trusting that the right opportunities will appear at the right time.
Whether you call it luck, manifesting, or simply being in alignment, that flow state is where magic happens. It’s where we create space for unexpected connections, insights, and breakthroughs. And honestly, it’s a much more enjoyable and sustainable way to build a business!
