Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Gloria Pope
Hi Dr. Gloria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As an entrepreneur from Mount Vernon, NY, I have been focused on embodying every dream I’ve ever had. My journey has been a fusion of passion, education, and a deep commitment to uplifting Black and Brown communities. With a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, I continuously push myself to learn and grow, ensuring that those I impact receive the best version of me. Education is at the core of who I am, and every step in my academic journey has shaped my ability to lead, teach, and inspire others. Through my business and nonprofit endeavors, I strive to create spaces where people can thrive and dream as boldly as I have.
In 2020, I founded Black Girl Everything LLC, a platform dedicated to promoting BIWOC-owned businesses. This venture allows me to combine my love for coaching and community engagement through curated events that celebrate and elevate entrepreneurs of color. My work is about building bridges and creating opportunities for others to succeed. By offering mentorship, coaching, and resources, I provide these women with the tools and confidence to scale their businesses and achieve their goals.
I also channeled my passion for advocacy through the creation of the Daisy Dream Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports families of children with special needs. Recently, we opened our first community-accessible sensory gym, an exciting milestone in our efforts to serve young children with disabilities. This gym represents the heart of my mission: creating safe, supportive environments for children and their families to grow, learn, and feel empowered.
Balancing my life as a wife, mother, educator, and entrepreneur has been made possible through a strong framework of personal branding. I believe that my success lies in my ability to blend family, friends, career, and dreams seamlessly. I have built a life of balance, one that allows me to thrive in all aspects of my identity while creating lasting impacts on the communities I serve. Through my work, I am not just fulfilling my dreams—I am building a world where others can do the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Time is one of the biggest challenges I face, constantly trying to make sure that everything and everyone in my life gets what they need. Balancing the demands of family, business, and community often feels like walking a tightrope. There’s a pressure to show up fully in all these spaces, and while I strive for that, I’ve had to acknowledge that I can’t pour from an empty cup. Being vulnerable and admitting when I am burnt out has been a critical part of my growth, not just as an entrepreneur, but as a person. Burnout is real, and it’s something I had to face head-on.
For a long time, I found myself living for someone else’s dreams—trying to meet expectations that didn’t align with my own passions. I realized that this constant drive to fulfill a vision that wasn’t mine only left me exhausted, because my heart wasn’t truly in it. I had to learn the hard way that living for others’ dreams will drain you, leaving you unfulfilled in the process.
The turning point for me was understanding that my best work, my best results, come when I focus on my own vision. When I center my energy around what fuels me, what I am passionate about, everything falls into place. There’s power in being true to yourself. It’s how I’ve been able to create balance, build my businesses, and continue serving the community without losing myself in the process. My journey has taught me that when you focus on your own vision, you are not only more effective—you are unstoppable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a boss—plain and simple. Through my work, I lead with passion, purpose, and a relentless drive to uplift others. As the founder of Black Girl Everything LLC, I serve as a mentor, coach, and vlogger, empowering Black and Brown women entrepreneurs to take their businesses to new heights. I use my platform to inspire, educate, and guide others through every step of their journey, offering practical tools and advice rooted in real-world experience. Coaching isn’t just something I do—it’s how I create lasting change in the lives of the people I work with.
As an educator, I bring my expertise to the forefront through the Daisy Dream Project, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families of children with special needs. This is where I’m at my best, combining my knowledge and passion to create programs that serve the unique needs of both children and their parents. My role in this work is deeply personal and fulfilling, allowing me to use education as a transformative tool for those who need it most.
But beyond titles and roles, I’m an Executive Function Coach—helping people harness their own potential and master the mental skills needed to thrive in all areas of life. Whether it’s time management, organization, or staying focused on goals, I have the ability to inspire anyone, meeting them where they are and empowering them to go further than they thought possible. My mission is simple: to show people how to take control of their lives, dream big, and execute with precision. No matter the challenge, I’m here to guide, inspire, and transform.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people about me is that I love to work out, but I also enjoy eating cookies without a second thought. It’s that balance between staying active and indulging in the little things that brings me joy. I have a passion for travel, and while I love the adventure of exploring alone, there’s nothing quite like spending quality time with my family.
When it comes to entertainment, I can sit down and watch a good movie, but in the end, the book is always better—there’s something about the depth of the story on the page that captivates me more. In many ways, I’m a simple person. There’s nothing too surprising about me, but that’s how I like it. I love connecting with others, building relationships, and sharing meaningful experiences, but I also cherish my “me time.” It’s in those quiet, reflective moments that I feel most grounded.
Ultimately, it’s the simple things that make me the happiest—whether it’s enjoying a peaceful afternoon with a book, savoring a good meal, or taking a walk in nature. I’ve learned to appreciate these moments, and they keep me balanced and fulfilled in all that I do.
