Today we’d like to introduce you to Dave Shecter
Hi Dave, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I never even thought about being an actor when i was growing up, i mean i was in school plays and things but that was about it. After high school i joined my first modeling and talent agency but wasnt really serious about it. It wasnt until 2012 or so i answered an ad looking for actors for an indie film. I auditioned and didnt get the part i auditioned for but they offered me a different part and that was when i got bit by the acting bug. I started looking through ads and auditioning for just about everything i could and here i am. Ive got a pretty good resume and IMDB page along with a website. Met some great people and having a blast and i dont have any intensions on slowing down.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, yes and no. I have a real job which has given me a great career and i pursue acting gigs in my spare time, So im pretty much on the go around the clock. Ive been fortunate enough to have a job that allows me to travel, audition, and take the necessary time off and because of that ive managed to build what i consider an impressive resume, IMDB page and website. My biggest challenge is finding the time to do more. I often think about where i might be if i was able to pursue acting full time. Hopefully that day will come.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a part time actor and ive been cast in feature films, short films, commercials, print ads, and a few TV series. Im usually cast as a cop, thug, bad guy, lawyer, priest, and those sorts of roles because i more of a serious actor and like playing roles that are intense. Im proud of what ive accomplished in the short few years ive been doing this all while holding down a real job and i think that’s what sets me apart. I enjoy doing this and am hoping to do it full time someday so i don’t spend much time at home or get enough sleep because im always involved in the arts in one way or another. If im not traveling out of state to act im building sets at home and writing and shooting my own films and i write songs and record and make music videos. So im constantly busy.
What does success mean to you?
Setting you sites on a goal and reaching that goal no matter how big or small. If you have obstacles that get in your way and you find a way to get around those obstacles, i would consider that a success.
