Today we’d like to introduce you to Dannis Winston.
Hi Dannis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my journey as an emcee, singer, and dancer at bar and bat mitzvahs, where I discovered my passion for bringing events to life. From there, I quickly climbed the ranks—first to talent coordination, then event management, and eventually full-scale event producing. Every step of the way taught me the skills and grit I needed to build and run my own live entertainment, production, and event coordination agency. It’s been an incredible ride, and it all started on the dance floor!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey has been anything but smooth! Over the past 13 years of running my business, there have been moments when I seriously considered throwing in the towel because we just weren’t booking the volume of events I had envisioned. But those tough times taught me resilience and pushed me to find creative ways to keep moving forward.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work has always been about bringing social and corporate events to life by pouring every ounce of my talent into them. Whether it’s singing, dancing, composing, coordinating, managing, designing, or stepping up as a master of ceremonies, I thrive on creating unforgettable experiences. What sets me apart is my equal passion for the business side of things—I genuinely love negotiating contracts and diving into logistics. For me, it’s all about weaving creativity and strategy together to produce flawless, seamless celebrations.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
If you’re just starting out, I can’t stress enough how important it is to dive into different aspects of the event industry. Become a true multi-hyphenate—someone who can wear multiple hats—so you’ll always have a way to contribute and stay involved.
One thing I wish I had known when I was starting out is that finding your professional stride in this business takes time—often longer than you’d expect. So, embrace the process, soak up all the learning experiences, and enjoy the journey as you grow.
