Today we’d like to introduce you to Cyan Townley.
Hi Cyan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my apprenticeship in a small town in Texas. While I was training, I worked two jobs and spent every free moment learning how to tattoo
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The tattoo industry is a challenge to get into and navigate. It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever learned to do. It’s an ever changing industry, full of hard work and education. My mental health was something I struggled with greatly during my apprenticeship, and with the growing imposter syndrome that comes with the title of “tattoo artist” it was definitely a very vulnerable part of my journey
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a tattoo artist. I do a lot of fine line and realism, and I’ve really found who I really am in this line of work. Creating is truly my passion, and I enjoy helping people’s confidence grow and let them be a part of the creative process during their time in my chair.
What makes you happy?
I’ve been through a lot of health problems in my life, and fighting through all of those challenges have made me appreciate everything around me. I’m eternally grateful to my friends, family, and partner who have always been there for me. Through them and my own hard work I have found my happiness in my surroundings and hobbies.
