Today we’d like to introduce you to Charmaine Dantzler

Hi Charmaine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

My story began as a child wanting to become a psychologist because I wanted to help people, although I didn’t become a psychologist, that childlike mindset to want to help the world paved the way to identifying my passion and purpose to want to make a change and an impact through my creative outlets. Pursing and briefly studying psychology, I realized that my journey was more geared towards expressing myself and making an impact culturally and creatively. From Interior Design, Event Planning, Fashion Design, Skincare, Life coaching/Influencer and my Digital wellness brand, I have used my passion and purpose to create a common mission and vision for all of my business endeavors. Through many sacrifices, the love of my culture, the need to educate and counsel and the unwavering support of my village is what got me where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

I WISH!!! No, it has not been a smooth road at all, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve dealt with various life struggles, financially, mentally, and emotionally but it taught me to be focused, driven and to never become complacent. The lessons I continue to learn because of those bumps in the road has been the driving force for me to persevere through any adversity.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

I refer to myself as “The Visionary Vanguard” aka ” The Life Influencer” I am an entrepreneur with multiple business pursuits. There is Du. Damage. Apparel, LLC a dynamic streetwear apparel business that caters to the black community, with a primary focus on designing and styling clothing that uplifts and empowers our community. We aim to provide high-quality, fashionable garments that represent our culture and values, then we have ILUME Bath & Body, a skin and body care brand that focuses on high quality infused scented products that ignite emotional reactions that aid in holistic wellness and relaxation, there is also CMD Designs, an event planning and interior design business that focuses on the unique and luxurious design execution of various events and interior spaces and Lastly, we have Conscious Soul a holistic wellness brand that aims to speak to the conscious mind, through intentions, affirmations, motivation and structure. Providing tools like journals, planners and various digital downloads to help express, heal and maintain a fulfilling mindset that advocates growth.

I am most proud of the impact I continue to make not only in my personal community but in the different spaces I cultivate because of the work that I do and the insight and knowledge that people seek out in me and what I continue to learn from my village.

What sets me apart is my ability to be authentic and recognizing the pressure and value I exude in every space I enter into and being that I am a plus-size, Indigenous woman of the world with natural hair who is very opinionated but also introverted so I don’t speak unless I feel lead to, I find that what sets me apart is what also keep me relevant and noticeable.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?

Whether it’s finding a mentor or networking, my one piece of advice is always be willing to learn because you don’t know everything. When seeking out a mentor you want to be taught by someone who knows more than you and has the same passion for the work that you do. When networking you want be open to learn from someone who knows something you don’t, and you may be able to utilize the information for your gain or collaborate and expand.

The main thing that has worked for me is definitely social media, you have millions of people at your disposal, you can look within you niche and target market and the results are almost instantaneous.
