Today we’d like to introduce you to Buddy Sea
Hi Buddy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a small town called Oswego in Upstate NY, it was a fairly normal up brining. Around 12 years old I started playing with an old guitar my Dad had in his closet. It really got me through my high school years and gave me an outlet for all the young adult crazy life stuff we all go through.
Around 2006 I started work on my first real studio album “Live & Learn” with my producer Adam and we recorded it at SUNY Oswego. The Album was released in 2008 and somehow it ended up on Spotify through some distribution deal I had so it still is out there hiding!
2008 was a crazy time for me, I decided to just up and leave NY for good and drove straight south until I hit water, I ended up in Pensacola FL. I quickly started forming my new friend group and playing gigs around Pensacola and the Beach.
After seeing some of the talent in the area and what great shows were being put on all over town I knew i had to search for a band, up until then I had done everything solo acoustic. In 2010 got a slot for lead Vocals and Guitar in a rock band called “Killed Off Screen”. It was a fantastic original project that really should have taken off more than it did. There is an unreleased KOS Album that I will finally get around to releasing someday when the time is right.
KOS played around the gulf coast at what was left of the original music venues and after a few member and life changes we started kicking around the idea of a party rock cover band, this was the beginning of Horseshoe Kitty
New Years Eve 2016 we played our first show as Horseshoe Kitty and since then we have built a huge following becoming one of the top entertainment acts in the south east region. We play just shy of 200 shows a year at Bars, Venues, Cooperate/Private Parties, and Extravagant Mardi Gras Krewe Balls as north as Oxford MS and as south as Key West FL. We have had a Fantastic 2024 so far and looking forward to an even bigger 2025 with our first single as Horseshoe Kitty “FisH On”.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There is nothing smooth in the music industry. One of the biggest things you have to overcome is internal conflict and member changes.
As a band we spend more time with each other than we do our families most of the time and that leads to its normal problems. I’m lucky to have finally found a group of guys that are like minded enough to be able a to work out the issues that arise and move forward for the bigger goal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am lead singer of a regional rock band called Horseshoe Kitty and We are the party! We try to take our show over the top and create an environment where every person is having a good time!

I think what sets HK and I apart is just our approach. There is no competition when it comes to how we think about the scene. If there Is anything I personally or HK can do for anyone, even the guys playing next door, then we are going to help.
I take a certain amount of pride when I get a phone call from another musician needing advice or equipment or even just a chat, it’s a hard industry and I think it’s important to lend a hand especially thinking back on how many times I could have used one.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the lifestyle we live in our little gulf coast beach community! Everything is just a little easier and most people go about life with a smile on!
There isn’t much to dislike about Pensacola, I do think that the there is too much push back against tourism considering it’s one of the areas main sources of wealth, we should embrace it and the business it brings.
