Today we’d like to introduce you to Author K Reshay
Hi Author K, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“Me Time Book Club” was started by Author K. Reshay the Summer of 2011. What started out as women getting together discussing books turned into an organization determined to bring about change within the community.
This book club was created to enhance the minds of women who already loved to read. Each member is encouraged to speak their minds without being judged. We also are involved in many community service projects.
In 2023, “Me Time Book Club,” became an official 501 3 C non-profit organization.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
During the first few years, it was a smooth road. Formality regarding the original rules started to become a thing so Bylaws were eventually created.
What I have found to be true over the years is that God requires separation for elevation.
Once our organization went through this process, we have been able to do the following:
-Grow to the largest size ever.
-Become nonprofit
-Successfully host three additional book festivals
-Started a Little Free Library
-Obtained several sponsorships
We now operate with a great group of beautiful and inspiring women dedicated to promoting literacy. We have a great time and support each other.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Being the president and founder of my own bookclub has been an eye opener. Since 2011, Me Time Book Club has been apart of my life. I’ve worked hard to grow it but I’ve also had lots of term oil along the way, I could have easily given up on my dream to promote literacy within the community but I kept going. I didn’t let anything or anybody stop me. It’s important to understand that never give up on the vision God has given you because he gave it to you for a reason.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
It’s important to establish relationships with seasoned book club presidents and members of the literary industry.
By having people in your corner for support is extremely valuable because they can give perspectives and advice.
