Today we’d like to introduce you to Amirah Perkins.
Hi Amirah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It’s been an up and down battle but I’ve gotten to where I am through a lot of blood sweat and tears. I’ve even quit doing what I do completely at times because I was so frustrated. With the support of friends and family I’ve grown.
Getting started wasn’t easy like most. I had no plan no initially. I just knew I didn’t want to spend my life giving years to companies that could easily terminate me without reason.
When I got fired in 2022 from a management job I knew then that was my wake up call to really get going. I had my EIN since 2016 after it was gifted to me but had yet to really do anything with it. But losing that job really showed me anything can happen and to be prepared at all times with these jobs.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s never smooth road when starting a small business. Especially when your footing the bill for everything and have little support.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Crafting custom, one-of-a-kind pieces that add a pop of joy to your world. My specialty is crocheting but I also offer custom tshirts, premade tshirts, tie dye items, denim patch work and seamstress services as far as hemming items.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Just be completely honest and open to what you want to do and how you want to do it has taken me a long way.
