My love for art began early in my childhood. My grandmother, a fine artist and hairstylist, played a significant role in nurturing my creativity. She gave me many art lessons, sparking a lifelong passion for artistic expression and creativity. Her dual talents in both fine art and hairstyling provided a unique blend of influences that shaped my artistic journey.

Growing up, I spent countless hours with her, learning the techniques of painting and drawing. These early experiences fostered a deep appreciation for all forms of beauty and artistry. Although she didn’t teach me hairstyling, my exposure to the beauty industry through her work piqued my interest and curiosity.

This foundation in art and my early exposure to the beauty industry naturally led me to explore makeup, where I found a perfect outlet for my creative expression. The skills and values my grandmother taught me have been invaluable as I transitioned from art lessons to professional makeup artistry. My grandmother’s influence is a cornerstone of my career, inspiring me to approach each client with the same creativity, care, and attention to detail that she taught me.

In college, I studied both education and psychology, driven by a passion for helping people and building their confidence. This dual background gave me a deep understanding of how to effectively communicate and support others. With summers off from teaching, I needed a job to supplement my income, so I decided to explore my interest in makeup. I earned my makeup license in Connecticut and continued my education in Texas, specializing in airbrush makeup.

I took a leap of faith and started offering my makeup services professionally. As my skills and reputation grew, I found a niche in bridal makeup. I loved being part of someone’s special day and helping them look their best, which perfectly combined my passions for beauty and confidence-building.

My studies in education and psychology have been invaluable when working with brides on their often stressful wedding days. I use my understanding of stress and anxiety to create a calming environment and communicate effectively, ensuring each bride feels heard and understood.

As demand for my services increased, I expanded to include bridal hair, forming a dedicated team of talented artists. Today, I run a successful bridal hair and makeup team, providing high-quality, personalized services for weddings and other special events.

The journey from education to entrepreneur has been incredibly rewarding. This unique background has shaped my journey, leading me to create a successful bridal hair and makeup team. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

It certainly hasn’t been a smooth road. Like any journey, there have been numerous challenges along the way. One of the initial struggles was gaining credibility and building a client base when I first started offering my makeup services. Breaking into the bridal industry, which is highly competitive, required perseverance and a lot of hard work.

Balancing my time between my full-time job in education and building my makeup business was another significant challenge. There were many late nights and weekends spent perfecting my skills, marketing my services, and networking. The transition from a stable career to the uncertainty of entrepreneurship was daunting, but my passion for makeup and helping people kept me motivated.

Another struggle was keeping up with industry trends and continuing education. The beauty industry evolves rapidly, and staying updated with the latest techniques and products required continuous learning and investment in training programs. This was time-consuming but it was essential to provide the best services to my clients.

Managing a team also came with its own set of challenges. As I expanded to offer bridal hair services and formed a team, I had to learn how to lead effectively, delegate tasks, and ensure consistent quality across the board. Ensuring that my team shared my vision for providing personalized, high-quality services was crucial, and finding the right people who fit this vision took time.

Despite these challenges, each struggle has been a learning experience, shaping me into a better professional and entrepreneur. The satisfaction of seeing a happy, confident bride on her wedding day makes all the struggles worthwhile.

I’d love to share more about my work! I specialize in natural makeup, focusing on enhancing each client’s unique beauty rather than masking it. My approach is all about creating a fresh, radiant look that highlights the best features of the individual while maintaining a natural appearance.

I am most proud of the personalized, high-quality experiences I provide for my clients. My team and I take the time to understand each bride’s vision, ensuring that the makeup and hair not only look stunning but also feel authentic to the bride’s personal style. Growing up, I had a vibrant and creative childhood shaped by my surroundings and family. Raised by two teachers, I developed a strong work ethic and a deep interest in learning from a young age. Education was always valued in our household, and this instilled in me a curiosity and dedication to exploring new ideas and subjects.

My father had a career with the airlines before transitioning to teaching. This career change blessed our family with discounted travel benefits, which we eagerly utilized to explore the world. Travel became a significant part of my upbringing, offering early exposure to diverse cultures and perspectives. Frequent trips allowed me to learn firsthand about different traditions, languages, and lifestyles from a young age. These experiences ignited a passion for cultural exploration and broadened my understanding of the world beyond my immediate surroundings. Travel became not just a luxury but a valuable educational experience that continues to influence how I approach life and my creative work today.

My upbringing was indeed unconventional in some respects; I grew up on a compound where all my cousins were my neighbors. This unique living arrangement created a close-knit environment where family bonds were strengthened daily. We shared not just physical proximity but also experiences, celebrations, and everyday moments, which fostered a deep sense of family unity and support.

Living surrounded by extended family, whom shared Christian values, taught me invaluable lessons about the importance of community and togetherness. It was a place where everyone looked out for each other, lending a helping hand whenever needed and celebrating each other’s achievements as if they were our own. This upbringing instilled in me a profound appreciation for family ties and a strong sense of belonging that continues to shape my values and relationships today.
