Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Lauer

Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

I started my career as a proofreader, then progressed into journalism. Like almost every journalist, I had a dream to write a book. That dream came true in 2014 with the publication of A World Such as Heaven Intended, a sweet Civil War romance. I thought that book was one and done until readers started asking me when the sequel would be coming out. Here I am, 10 years later, with 10 books published, three more written and in various stages of publishing, and two more on the docket.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

There have been many ups and downs in my career as an author, but the trajectory is always pointing upwards. The initial struggle was writing my first book, then came the search for a publisher, then creating a series. The ongoing challenge is marketing. It doesn’t make much sense to write books if you don’t plan to get them out to the largest audience possible.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?

I’m a fiction author, specializing in sweet romances, either historical or time travel. I’m most well known for my Heaven Intended Civil War series. I’m proud that I have chosen to pursue a career as an author, even though it’s the hardest job I’ve ever had (and probably the least-compensated as well). What sets me apart from other authors is that I have four decades of experience in my field, and that I’ve been given the gift of writing wholesome, unforgettable stories well.

What do you like and dislike about the city?

What I like best about our city is that it’s beautiful, safe, friendly, welcoming, and was a wonderful place for my husband and I to raise our four children. What I like least is what feels like the never-ending winters. We basically have summer, fall, and winter.
