Today we’d like to introduce you to Alonda Brooks
Alonda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey as an author began quite early. I wrote and published my first book in the first grade. It all started when my first-grade teacher, concerned that I might be held back and referred me to reading intervention. Little did she know, she had sparked a fire within me. I began to excel in language arts. Once she realized that I wasn’t struggling with reading but was simply bored, she introduced me to writing.
Our elementary school had a book bindery, and that’s when I wrote my first book, titled Momma Ella Come Down from the Star Gaze. This book was my way of making sense of my grandmother’s death. Through star gazing, I found a connection to her, a way to talk to her and understand Heaven. It was a deeply personal journey, and I had no idea at the time that this simple act of writing would spark my passion for storytelling and ultimately lead to the creation of my publishing company, I Am Becoming Publishing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I grew older, my passion for writing only deepened. It became a way to cope with life’s challenges. Writing has seen me through depression, life’s highs and lows, and educational challenges. It has remained a constant throughout my life. This unwavering relationship with writing has been a source of strength and clarity for me.
I am honored to now teach the art and freedom of writing to others. It brings me immense joy to help aspiring writers find their voices and tell their stories. I have had the esteemed honor of helping over 50 authors achieve international best-seller status through I Am Becoming Publishing. This accomplishment is a testament to the power of storytelling and the impact it can have on both writers and readers.
