Today we’d like to introduce you to Alice Yeh
Hi Alice, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My career journey has been anything but linear, but that’s what makes it meaningful. I started with all the “right” boxes checked: degrees from Princeton undergrad and Wharton MBA, climbing the corporate ladder at Fortune 500 companies like J.P. Morgan and Google, and even trying my hand at the startup life. On the outside, it looked like success, but inside, I felt stuck, unfulfilled, and constantly asking, “Is this all there is?”
I’ve experienced three layoffs, multiple career pivots, international relocations, and even a yearlong sabbatical to recover from burnout while pursuing personal passion projects. Each twist and turn forced me to rethink my path and reconnect with what truly matters to me. Through these challenges, I realized how many high-achievers like myself feel stuck in careers that look great on paper but don’t align with their deeper purpose.
After my third layoff, I decided to stop chasing the external markers of success and start designing a life and career on my own terms. That decision led me to career coaching, where I help others take back control of their careers, find clarity, and create meaningful lives with work that excites them.
Now, as a Career Clarity Coach, I empower mid-career professionals to turn their Sunday scaries into fulfilling Mondays. It’s about breaking free from career dissatisfaction, ditching perfectionism, and discovering how to build a career and life you truly love and desire. It’s been a journey of reinvention, resilience, and courage, and I’m grateful every day that I get to help others do the same.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way because I’ve learned so much along the way. The struggles have shaped who I am and how I coach today.
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating career transitions, especially after experiencing three layoffs. Each time, I faced not only the practical hurdles of finding my next step but also the emotional toll of feeling untethered and questioning my worth. I often felt unsure of what to do next, especially when I felt like I exhausted all my options. But I ended up using each layoff as an opportunity to pivot and reinvent myself.
Another struggle has been learning to let go of perfectionism. For so long, I was caught in the mindset that success meant following a traditional path and always achieving at the highest level, hence my overachiever showing with my Ivy League education and working at companies like J.P. Morgan and Google. I was taught to work hard and be the best to find success. Breaking free from that mindset has been a journey in itself – learning to embrace failure, trust the process, be resilient, and prioritize progress over achievement. It wasn’t easy but it was important to keep trying by adapting and bouncing back whenever I encountered failures.
The hardest part, though, might have been redefining success on my own terms. It takes courage to step away from what’s safe or expected and pursue a path that feels authentic but uncertain, especially when comparing to peers and feeling like you’re behind. There were moments of self-doubt, fears of failure and starting over, and wondering if I was making the right choice. However, I realized that fulfillment comes from aligning with your core values and priorities. What’s important to you is different for each person.
But all these struggles have been the foundation for the work I do today. They’ve given me the empathy, tools (and resilience!) to help others navigate their own challenges with clarity and confidence. I’m able to help other high-achievers get unstuck at career crossroads because I’ve been there myself and know what it feels like.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Career Clarity Coach, and my work is all about helping high-achieving, mid-career professionals who feel stuck or unfulfilled in their careers find purpose, freedom, and a path forward. I specialize in guiding people through career transitions, whether that’s navigating a layoff, pivoting to a new industry, or simply figuring out what’s next when you know your current path isn’t it.
What I’m known for is my ability to help clients cut through the noise, quiet the self-doubt, and uncover what they really want. My clients often come to me overwhelmed, burned out, or questioning their purpose, and I help them find clarity, confidence, and direction.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the ripple effect of my work. When a client takes control of their career and starts living in alignment with their values, it doesn’t just change their professional life. It transforms their personal life, relationships, and overall happiness. Seeing that transformation is incredibly fulfilling.
What sets me apart is that I’m not coming from a traditional HR or recruiting background. My approach is grounded in real-life experience through 14 years of navigating corporate environments, three layoffs, multiple international moves, and reinventing myself time and time again via career pivots. I understand what it’s like to feel stuck and lost, to question your worth, and to rebuild from scratch. I bring that empathy and insight into every coaching session.
I also believe in making coaching approachable and relatable. I’m not here to tell you to quit your job and “follow your passion” without a plan. I’m here to help you think strategically, embrace calculated risks, take back control, and design a career and life that truly works for you.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Absolutely! Curiosity is one of my personal core values and it fuels my desire for personal and professional development. So I’m always seeking out tools and resources to learn and grow whether for my personal life and/or my professional work, especially as a Career Coach.
The following resources have influenced how I think, work, and live. They continuously inspire me to become better while helping others do the same.
Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty: This book has been a guide for me in cultivating mindfulness, gratitude, and focus. It offers practical tools to calm the noise of everyday life and center on what truly matters. I love how he translates ancient wisdom into actionable advice for modern challenges. This book constantly reminds me to slow down, stay curious about the world, and focus on growth, not perfection. It’s influenced how I show up for my clients, encouraging them to find clarity and calm amidst uncertainty. I was so inspired by Jay that I later received my coaching certification through the Jay Shetty Certification School.
IKIGAI by Héctor García & Francesc Miralles: Ikigai is a Japanese concept for “reason for being” or finding your purpose. It resonates deeply with my work and personal life. The idea of aligning your passions, talents, the world’s needs, where you can have impact, and what you can be paid for is at the heart of career clarity. This is the framework I often use to help clients explore their own unique paths and find personal and professional fulfillment.
Atomic Habits by James Clear: This is my go-to resource for building and maintaining habits that lead to meaningful change. Clear breaks down the art and science of habit formation in a way that’s both practical and actionable. It’s taught me that big changes come from small, consistent steps compounded over time. I’ve applied these principles to my own life, whether it’s building healthier routines, losing weight, exercising more, or staying disciplined in my coaching business. I encourage my clients to do the same. It’s a constant reminder that progress beats perfection.
High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard: This book is an essential read for anyone striving to excel in their personal and professional lives. Burchard’s six habits for high performance challenged me to stay intentional about how I manage my energy, focus, and goals. This book aligns perfectly with my belief in continuous growth and reminds me that success isn’t just about achieving, it’s about thriving. It’s also been a great resource for inspiring my clients to think bigger about their potential.
All the books by Adam Grant: I have had the privilege to have had Adam Grant as a professor during my time at Wharton. His work is a treasure trove of insights about human behavior, leadership, and creativity. Give and Take taught me the value of generosity in professional relationships. Originals encouraged me to embrace reinvention and think differently about risk. Hidden Potential offered insights on tapping into and cultivating potential not only within yourself but also others. And Think Again has been a powerful reminder of the importance of staying open-minded and adaptable. His writing mirrors my values of learning and curiosity, and I often draw from his ideas to help my clients navigate change and uncertainty.
The Five Minute Journal: This journal is a simple yet transformative daily ritual. It’s helped me anchor my mornings and evenings in gratitude, reflection, and intention. The structured prompts encouraged me to focus on the positives, set meaningful goals, and learn from my day. It’s not just a productivity tool, it’s a practice in mindfulness and growth. I often recommend it to clients as a way to build self-awareness, resilience, and positivity.
What I love about these resources is that they support both my personal and professional growth. They remind me to keep learning, stay curious, and approach life with intention and creativity.
