Today we’d like to introduce you to Alessia Falvo
Hi Alessia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story began in a theatre at the age of 3, when my parents decided to bring me to see Romeo and Juliet at the Opera.
My parents told me that was the moment in which they understood what my road was going to be!
I was so engaged with the music, the movements of the dancers, that I didn’t cry or disturb for the entire duration of the show.
Later on I started taking classes in classic dance. But within few years, that after school activity became way bigger than that.
During my time in High School, I finally understood that theatre is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. To me it was like my happy place, in which I felt listened and accepted. It is a place in which my creativity can express itself with no restrictions.
Now, after so many years of study and academies around the globe, I decide to built something of my own, a Company that can travel and bring theatre anywhere is needed.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think easy roads are myths! No road is easy, no matter what you decide to follow or pursue.
The main struggles that I had to face were and, still, are: rejection, living far from home for long periods of times, constantly overthinking about even the smallest things and losing dear people because of distance.
As you can see they are really common and I’m sure each one of us has gone or currently going through it.
But I would like to highlight that without the obstacles or struggles, I would’ve never been able to understand if this is what I truly want to do and pursue for the rest of life.
Doubts and fears are needed to make are goals stronger and worth fighting for.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
These are really good and challenging questions! I am still very young and I still need to face a lot of changes in my life, but
I think that what I am mostly proud of is: not giving up, not falling in the trap of others or stop myself from making art just because someone said it’s not good enough.
I am currently going thorugh this huge change of perspectives, in which a new chapter of my artistic life is on the way of being fulfilled.
I always wanted to start a Theatre Company and I said to myself maybe this is the time, why waiting, for what or who anyway!
Being an artist means most of the time, waiting for somebody to acknowledge you, choose you and then, if you are lucky enough be able to make it. This is the only side that I can’t tolerate, I can’t sit and wait and make somebody else prove my worth. That’s when I thought who or what is actually stopping me from doing what I love? The answer was nobody just myself. If I want to do a play, I should just do it.
In that moment I understood that most of the times the problem or obstacle it’s not outside of us but within.
Do not allow anybody choose for you or prove if you can or not!
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
As I mentioned before I am on the process of establishing my Company! It is going to be a chance to not only support me but the Company itself, as for all the actors and artists that are going to be involved! Our productions will be starting in 2025, the aim is to arrive globaly and look for actors all around it. I want to use the power of theatre to make new stories and point of views come to life!
