Today we’d like to introduce you to Aj Barnes Williams
Hi AJ , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After starting a successful braiding career in Atlanta Georgia from 2021 to 2022, I returned to my hometown Omaha Nebraska with hopes of continuing to bring quality braiding services and one day offer classes to those looking to grow their skills as a professional braider.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Leaving everything behind was a challenge at first, but I had the confidence to know that I would be successful no matter where I am. Uprooting my 4 children, my career, and my life was a reality I wasn’t ready to face at the time. I had faith that everything would work out for my best interest. The thought of rebuilding clientele in my hometown, where no one really knew my skillset was a scary reality. The passion I have in this business is something that has always been a driving force for me since the start of my career.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have been a professional braider for 3 years. I specialize in Knotless braids, Stitch braids, and Faux locs services. I knew I wanted more for my life. By returning home, I knew this was my opportunity to take my career to the next level. I enrolled in Cosmetology School at Capitol Beauty School of Cosmetology and Esthetics in Omaha Nebraska and I am now a Full time student on track to graduate in January 2025. I am most proud of how hard I’ve worked to get to this moment. I’ve waited over 20 years for an opportunity like this so everything I dream of is riding on this entire moment.
What sets me apart from others is the knowledge I had prior to starting Cosmetology School, but also the love I have always had for the Beauty industry. I didn’t just wake up one day and randomly chose this career. It has been in me since I was a child. It is a form of service, my way of giving back and putting great energy in the world while making my clients look and feel great about themselves. I knew this was my purpose and my mission upon returning to where my dream began.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I would love to thank my Cosmetology Instructors at Capitol Beauty School in Omaha Nebraska for all they’ve done for me so far in my journey to becoming a Licensed Cosmetologist. They are aware of my prior knowledge and skills so I’m thankful that they push me to continue to be one of the best stylists that represent my school.
I’d love to thank my parents for being there for me in so many ways. Their support for me and my 4 children during this transition has truly been everything I needed and more. To my past, and current clients, I’m thankful that they trust me with their hair and know I only want them to have the healthiest hair they’ve ever had while executing premium services along with a memorable experience. To my brand ambassadors of my AJ Bella Beauty brand, I love you all. Thanks for always supporting me, recommending me to others, and being the best models I could ever ask for.
