Today we’d like to introduce you to Aisha Murphy
Hi Aisha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My career has been a journey of highs, lows, and meaningful pivots. I started with a passion for storytelling and journalism, publishing my first work as a teen. Over the years, I’ve embraced roles in technical writing, public relations, digital media, and strategic communications, each adding layers to my expertise. While navigating challenges and transitions, I realized that every experience—whether a high point or a setback—prepared me for where I am today.
Currently, I find myself drawing from a diverse well of experiences, merging creativity, strategy, and resilience. This reflection has reconnected me with my roots, inspiring me to reach back, align with my purpose, and create meaningful work that uplifts others. My path, though winding, has proven purposeful, enabling me to approach my work with clarity, intention, and a deep understanding of the value of growth through every stage.
Everything that I have experienced in my past has purpose in the present. Everything that I am currently learning now is leading me to the next portion of my life and career and I’m so excited for where I’m going.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been anything but smooth. Balancing my creative aspirations with financial responsibilities has always been a challenge. As someone who is both deeply creative and financially motivated, I’ve often had to pause my creative pursuits to meet obligations and provide for my family. This cycle of starting, stalling, and restarting has delayed many of my goals.
Recently, I’ve reached a turning point. I am no longer willing to compromise my God-given purpose of creating uplifting content and building supportive communities for financial comfort alone. I’ve made the decision to prioritize what truly aligns with my values and calling. This mindset shift has empowered me to say no to anything that doesn’t serve my mission of inspiring resilience and uplifting others through creativity and connection. It’s a challenging road, but I know it’s the right one.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My career has been rooted in Public Relations (PR), digital media management, and building online and offline communities.
I’ve managed social media platforms, cultivated digital communities, and strategized impactful communication efforts across industries.
While I have had a consistent communications and writing career, I’m most proud of my community work! Going forward I’m fully embracing work aligned with my God-given purpose. One of my passions is my role as co-founder of Resilient Events, alongside Myra Hollis.
Through movements like Resilient Tea, Resilient Toast, and other “communiTEA” building events in Southern California, I’m dedicating more of my energy to developing spaces where people feel supported, empowered, and connected.
This transition represents my commitment to blending creativity, purpose, and community impact, creating moments and messages that inspire resilience and growth in everyone I reach.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My best advice for finding a mentor is to step into new spaces and engage authentically. I met my first mentor at a symposium as a teenager, where I was the youngest person in the room. I stood out by contributing to the discussion, engaging with others, and expressing genuine interest in the topic. After approaching the event creator to share my excitement and gratitude, she was so impressed that she invited me to lunch, which led to an internship and my first published work before 18.
Networking is about showing up, being present, and listening intently. It’s not just about promoting yourself—it’s about learning from others and finding ways to add value. Follow up with meaningful connections and offer help when you can. Being a fountain of support, rather than just seeking what you can gain, creates authentic relationships that lead to incredible opportunities.
