Doing things differently often leads to outsized results and so we connected with some of the most inspiring leaders and trailblazers we know and asked them to go into detail about what they do differently relative to others in their industry.

I promote that you can do it yourself, and how THAT is actually better. Read more>>

In our industry, there’s been a major shift ever since California removed the practical portion from the state licensing exam. Most beauty schools now focus almost entirely on theory, because the higher a school’s pass rate, the better the school looks on paper. And while of course we want the students to pass the state exam, many schools have become too focused on their success on paper than student success after they graduate. Read more>>

We champion the rebels, the people who go against the grain, the thought leaders. What we don’t do is dilute our client’s messages to make them more palatable to the media. We amplify who they really are in such a way that the media creates space for them. What I hear from people who have come through is that in the past, is that they’ve often been told to water down their message or to change aspects about themselves, to tone down who they are to be less intimidating, even things like to stop wearing red lipstick. We do the exact opposite. Read more>>

We are not here to “close the sale”. We are here to grow into the powerful version of ourselves that can HOLD the vision and potential for our clients until they themselves can fully claim it.
We’re here to invite our clients into becoming more. More successful in business, to attract more love of all kinds, become more healthy, feel more energized…to step into what they’re really capable of, in a way that feels deeply aligned with, and is in their highest and best interest. Read more>>

I started Phoenix Voices Enterprises which consists of six different businesses – Phoenix Voices Publishing, Phoenix Voices Anthologies, Phoenix Voices Bookstores, Phoenix Voices Ghostwriters, Spreading the Fire Publishing and Phoenix Voices Uplifting Entrepreneurs because I wanted to focus on voices of writers and authors that the big five traditional publishers wouldn’t publish. One of the ways I diverge from the industry standard is how I prepare my couples for their wedding day. Many photographers wait until just a month or two before the wedding to create a timeline, but I draft one as soon as a couple books with me. This gives them confidence from the very beginning, helps them visualize how the day can flow, and ensures we’re never rushing through moments just for the sake of photos. Read more>>

At Sacred Soul Tattoo, we’ve built an inclusive, trauma-informed space where both artists and clients feel safe to be themselves.
In an industry that can sometimes feel intimidating or exclusive, we focus on slowing down, listening, and creating tattoos that are as much about healing and empowerment as they are about art. From memorial pieces to scar cover-ups, we’ve seen tattoos help people reclaim their stories, and that’s the difference we’re proud to make. Read more>>

I consider myself a go-to person for making things happen. At times, my clients may perceive me as the hero of their story, but I think I’m the supporting character and they’re the hero. In my line of work, no one accomplishes anything they don’t want to do or have the means to do. I serve as a strategic guide in order to coordinate between different parties, their timelines, and their motivations. I worked with a client that told me I didn’t just help him sell his home, I also gave him the chance to live his retirement dream. That’s powerful. I recognize this client felt as though it wouldn’t have happened without me, but it would have – it just would have happened differently. Read more>>

I launched my first book this summer. It’s a business/self-help book called Today Was Fun: A Book About Work (Seriously). This was maybe an odd choice for me as I don’t really like most business/self-help books: the covers with the lightbulbs or crumpled up post its, the walls of text, the content that could have been a punchy article but instead drags on with case studies that do little to advance the case. It’s all so… professional. Read more>>

There is greater access to mental health services now than there has ever been historically. More therapists, psychiatrists, wellness coaches, addiction services, and other mental health professionals are offering services via apps and other telehealth options while many insurance companies have increased their mental health services coverage. However, overall mental health continues to substantially decline. Rates of addiction, domestic violence, self-reported feelings of anxiety and depression, overdoses and suicide are on the rise. With all the money that has been thrown toward these issues from well-meaning government and private funding agencies, and the plethora of pharmaceutical options, why does the situation seem to be getting worse instead of better? It’s no surprise photography sessions are a bit pricey. And rightfully so! There is a lot of time and effort that goes into each session, and the artists behind the lens really work hard to perfect their craft and show their creativity. Not to mention the equipment, editing programs, and props/environment factors to account for. It is a business after all. However, I personally have a different approach. Read more>>
