Doing things differently often leads to outsized results and so we connected with some of the most inspiring leaders and trailblazers we know and asked them to go into detail about what they do differently relative to others in their industry.

I’ve been a master esthetician for 18 years and what I’ve seen popular in the industry are day spas where it’s very relaxing and you get a facial or medical spas where you get a medical grade treatment, bought. You are not laying on a comfy, cozy, warm bed. You’re laying on something that’s like in your doctor’s office with wax paper. What I have done is combine the two where people come and enjoy comfy cozy luxury and spa add-ons but with medical grade results. Read more>>

Since starting my design firm, we have worked on a wide variety of projects – across many design categories. They have ranged from traditional colonials, to farmhouses, to ultra modern. I love not specializing in one specific design aesthetic for all of my projects. It allows me, and my team, to tailor the design to the client’s needs and preferences. It also exposes us to the rich history of design, as well as current trends. This approach has opened the door to serve a range of budgets, style, scopes, and personalities. We have honed our process to be very clear and systematized, which allows more room for creativity. Read more>>

Most people would say that I am a travel agent, but I prefer to see myself as a travel advisor. When I think of a travel agent, I think of an order taker or a booking engine like Expedia. Sure, I book trips, but that is the easy part. The services that I offer you before, during and even afterwards in addition to booking the trip are more like an advisor. There are a lot of people who are trying to sell travel now. And, unfortunately, many of them are doing it because they think they will get discounted travel or free trips. So, they sign up to be a travel agent and with very little training or support, and start “booking trips”. Read more>>

In a region that is most well known for hoppy beers of all varieties, we are taking our beer back to the basics. Focusing on traditional style beers, even our English India Pale Ale (IPA) is very different from the norm. Our goal is to brew approachable beer crafted in a way that that honors the history if each individual style. Read more>>

I focus on only a few clients each year; providing them with highly creative campaigns, amazing results and a high level of service. I noticed that the marketing agencies and creative agencies I had worked at previously were focusing on volume of ‘customers’ instead of the quality of the client experience. Due to this, they were experiencing a low retention rate and were constantly selling to new clients to compensate. Read more>>

Sometimes I look back at all the things I’ve had the chance to experience: live abroad, learn new languages, live illustrate for small and big companies, write and draw stories and comics. I didn’t go to art school, which is always a little bit of a source of insecurity for me and also a fantasy of a lost paradise. But it also pushes me to give back as much as I can, by being as honest and authentic as possible in my life and in my illustration work. Read more>>

In the special populations world there are various non profits and programs that provide classes, throw events, etc. At Project SOAR we are similar to other groups based on the fact that we provide adaptive recreational and leisure type programming. Where we stand out as unique is the emphasis placed on the experience versus the product or goal of the event. For example, any person that signs up for a painting class goes to improve their skills and to have the final product of a completed painting they created. In our program we carve out time or throughout a class have guided social interactions to benefit our participants by helping them to build relationships. Read more>>

As a freelance hairstylist, with a degree in psychology, it’s no wonder that I love working behind the chair with people, putting them first. I love creating an experience where I am able to make someone feel heard, valued, understood, inspired and loved. With my faith, my degree, my cosmetology license and a background in learning numerology and tarot, I have been working on creating my own personalized, numerology readings and candle gift boxes to share with you all in the near future. Loan Officer to me is a term that is outdated. However, when you look at the way a vast majority of loan officers operate these days, it makes sense why that term still sticks. Many mortgage professionals are still utilizing the old ways of communication and information sharing: email, rate sheets, and phone calls. Read more>>

I started The Golding Group 12 years ago when I realized my last “corporate” job was destined to fizzle out the same way every corporate marketing job does. I knew there was a better way to provide strategic, sustainable economic growth for organizations through business process innovation & marketing integration not just the traditional paid advertising model of hourly fees for creative and media buying commissions. I wanted to use my experience building organizations from the inside out by providing expertise in all phases of operation, specific to each of our client’s needs and not the ego of my boss or a “how we have always done it” mentality. For many years, the beauty industry promoted a universal approach to skincare. As a South Asian woman, I found that many products weren’t tailored to my unique skin needs. This motivated me to collaborate with scientists and dermatologists to develop an algorithm that recommends the ideal botanicals for one’s skin, factoring in ethnicity, skin type, and individual objectives. From a young age I started my journey creating art . While still in high school I began learning the trade of conservation and custom picture framing. I continued this path for 2 decades until i decided to open up my own business. Beyond the Edge Custom Framing & Art. The main thing that I try to do differently is to make my clients independent of me. I know that is probably not the best business practice, but it feels like the right thing to do. Specifically what I mean by that is that when Client approached me to ask to learn about climbing outside, my goal is to make them safe and independent rock climbers, so that they do not need a guide. In someways, that is the same as what I do as a psychologist. My job is to actually work myself out of the equation so that my patients are independent of me. I want them to be able to function in a healthy and safe way without me having to be there all the time for them. Read more>>
