Today we’d like to introduce you to Van Verhoeven

Hi Van, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?

It all started in 1999 with a video camera…In high school there was a tech class that showed us how to edit different types of videos. This led to me and my friends filming music videos (thanks MTV). At this time, I had no idea how to play an instrument. For my birthday, my mom gave me a guitar that I learned how to play with the aid of tabs on the internet. When you have a guitar and music videos, you obviously want to start a band. Post high school, we took being a band more seriously. We moved up from bars to national concert venues. In 2010, our band was named Best Band In Denver. Like any great group, we broke up. Not wanting to be in the spotlight, I started B-normous productions in 2012 to help other bands make a bigger name for themselves. My love for producing grew and has led to the success of B-nourmous today.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

With any business, the road in never smooth. It’s like the highways on 1-25, always needing work. The studio has taken many years to grow and become successful. A major roadblock was I had to work full time with DISH network to help support my family. That left little time to the studio. I was only able to work with bands once or twice a month, However, that’s where my love was; in the studio. After years of being miserable with a job I hated, I decided to take a leap. With the support of family and friends, I was determined to make it as full time business owner.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about B-normous?

B-Normous is a production company that specializes in recording songs and records for bands and solo artists. Recording, producing, and mixing are done through my company. I have added music videos and recording live band sets. Four of my videos have had over 100,000 views. My knowledge of music and years of experience allow me to give guidance to bands when they enter the studio that pushes them to be as successful as possible. I am proud that I can offer a variety of services in one place: recording, mixing, producing, videos, band promotion. Over the past two years, I have worked with over 30 different bands/artists with 85% of them being repeat clients.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?

You would be surprised to know that being heavily involved in the music scene, I don’t have any tattoos. Nor will I be getting one.
