I was fortunate to embark on a journey of entrepreneurship out of necessity when my husband became chronically ill. This unexpected turn of events pushed me out of my comfort zone. After spending years as a stay-at-home mom, dedicated to nurturing my family, I suddenly found myself working 60 hours a week in a job that offered little opportunity for growth or personal fulfillment. It was a difficult time, as my small children and husband needed me more than ever, both emotionally and physically, and I struggled to balance my responsibilities at home with the demands of an unfulfilling job.
This challenging experience, however, became a catalyst for change. I realized I needed to find a new path, one that would allow me to prioritize my family and still pursue my own aspirations. As I took the leap into entrepreneurship, I discovered an incredible sense of freedom and flexibility. This new path allowed me to better accommodate the caregiving needs of my husband and be more present for our two boys during their formative years.
Through faith and perseverance, the Lord graciously provided me with both the desire and the opportunity to move beyond my previous limitations. I was able to create a venture that not only supports my family but also serves businesses across the country. My team and I have the privilege of engaging in a deeply fulfilling mission. We don’t just conduct business transactions; we form meaningful connections with our clients, offering them counsel and guidance, and fulfilling our servant hearts by uplifting others. We even have the honor of praying over the businesses of our clients, which adds a unique layer of purpose to our work.
Our work is about more than just accounting; it’s about forming connections, building relationships, and making a positive impact in the lives of others. It’s about creating a community where we can support each other and grow together, both professionally and personally. This journey has not only transformed my life but has also enriched the lives of those around me, allowing us to truly make a difference.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The definition of ‘smooth’ can vary, depending on one’s perspective. Externally, my company appears to have experienced tremendous growth, expanding by 50% or more annually and building a team of eight. We have consistently strived to be proactive, refining our productivity and best practices to deliver exceptional service to our clients. We’ve revamped our approach to educating team members and identifying clients who align best with our services. On the inside, however, I’ve often grappled with imposter syndrome, feeling undeserving of our success and puzzled by our achievements. Yet, deep down, I believe our growth is a result of following the guidance provided by the Lord and maintaining ethical business practices.
