Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Betchner
Hi Robyn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Change, evolution and reinvention have been the stories of my life.
What may sound like contradictions are really part of my lifelong learning journey and desire to always try something new.
As a child I excelled in math and science, though I chose to pursue fine arts in college and then business as an adult. I’ve tended to find comfort in highly structured environments, yet a few years ago, I decided to completely change my life. I sold my house and quit my successful corporate career to travel and experience the world for two years. This was the single biggest and scariest decision of my life.
Upon the completion of my grand adventure, I have been an entrepreneur for almost two years.
Not every step has been a success, but each step has set me up for success.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been a few struggles, but for me, it has really been managing the uncertainty. While travelling I got comfortable being uncomfortable and only being able to plan about 6 weeks in advance, which prepared me for being an entrepreneur.
There have definitely been feast and famine months.
Recently, a good friend of mine decided to close her business after 15 years due to an issue with one of her distribution channels that she was not able to resolve. I don’t think this was something she could even fathom six months ago.
This is the constant struggle for business owners.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My consulting company, Grand Venture Advisory, empowers clients on their thoughtful transformation journey through tailored consulting services.
It has two parts:
1. Providing traditional management consulting services, such as strategic planning, operating model, program management, profit improvement and post-merger integration.
2. Serving as a travel adviser, not a travel agent, but more as a guide to help those looking to undertake a transformative, thoughtful or purposeful travel experience based on my own travels and learnings.
I see myself as a living case study on the power of transformation and embracing the unknown. These are key elements when developing creative and innovative business strategies, as well as developing an experience-led travel adventure.
What’s next?
I’m currently creating an on-demand course of my “Guide to Transformative Travel” training. My goal is to launch it before year end to capitalize on the “New Year, New You” feeling that happens at the beginning of a new year.
Pricing:
- $200/hr for Business Consulting
- $50 for “Guide to Transformation Travel” course
