Today we’d like to introduce you to Quentin Garzón
Hi Quentin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Thank you so much for inviting me to do another interview! My love for TV and film has always been a huge part of who I am. I can remember back in elementary school when I received the Steven Spielberg Movie LEGO set, and I started making stop-motion films with it. In high school, any chance I got, I turned even the simplest of projects into short films. My parents always encouraged me to carve my own path in the industry, so I developed a business-minded approach to my creativity early on. I was constantly writing short films and features for myself, and filming them to gain more experience. Over time, I realized that if you can write and organize, the sky’s the limit—well, except maybe for budget constraints, haha!
When I moved from LA to New York, I did step back from writing for a bit to focus more on musical theatre. I got caught up in the “pick me” actor culture, which isn’t great for mental health. Eventually, I returned to my roots in producing and started putting on cabaret shows. I went all out with them, like cramming 15 live musicians onto a 10×10 stage! After that, I dove into producing an original concept album for Kalevala: The Musical, written by Johanna Telander. That project was a game-changer for me—I realized how bold I could be, reaching out to and contracting some of the biggest names in the industry, like Ramin Karimloo and Julia Murney.
Since then, things have really snowballed. I teamed up with Johanna again to produce an original short musical film called Gray Land, which is currently making the festival rounds and has already won several awards. I also just completed filming a fantasy short film called “Echoes of Fire” and am working on another psychological thriller short called “Nocturne, in which I wrote both.
And finally I also just completed writing a feature-length romantic comedy! It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited for what’s to come.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d say my two biggest challenges have been getting caught up in the “pick me” actor mindset and learning the value of patience. The first is pretty self-explanatory—my struggles aren’t all that different from any other performer in this industry. But patience, well, that’s been a bit harder to grasp. My friends joke that I run on “Quentin Time” because I tend to forget that when I ask someone a question or need something done, they can’t just drop everything for me. When I’m focused on a project, it consumes my entire attention, and I’m fueled by that momentum. I hate losing that energy, so I push hard. But I’ve been learning, slowly but surely, that patience truly is a virtue.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Clarity Enhancement Laboratory, LLC?
Surprise! I do have a day job outside of my creative pursuits. I help run my family’s jewelry business, which my father founded. He developed a unique, stable treatment for emeralds that enhances their clarity and, unlike other treatments, never dries out. When I’m not creating, I’m deeply involved in the business. This experience has been incredibly valuable in shaping my approach to producing, because many creatives forget that creativity is also a business. Without the skills I’ve gained from helping run my father’s company, I wouldn’t be as equipped to handle the logistical and organizational aspects of producing as I am today.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t have an answer for that just yet… I don’t think I’ve been fortunate enough to experience a stroke of luck so far. I am just hard at work to make a name for myself in an industry I love. But I’m hopeful, and I’m patiently waiting for my moment.
