Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Pearl.
Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
If you’ve seen “The Devil Wears Prada,” that was very much what my life looked like as the editorial assistant to a powerhouse editor-in-chief in the magazine industry. My media career started in the heart of New York City, running around Midtown tasked with everything from finding the perfect gooey chocolate chip cookie to answering calls at all hours to meet deadlines. (Not exactly glamorous, but hey, it shaped me!)
Fast forward: I worked my way up the editorial ladder to become a senior staff beauty editor and freelance journalist, writing for publications like InStyle, Allure, O Magazine, and Marie Claire.
Then I was up for a big job at a glossy magazine. It was between myself and one other candidate. I didn’t get the job and later found out the new hire was actually the boss’s best friend. That’s when I decided I was taking control of my career and went off on my own
Soon after, The Beauty Girl was born. I grew my personal brand and turned myself into an on-air beauty and lifestyle expert and speaker who has appeared on shows such as TODAY, Access Hollywood, ExtraTV, and more.
And I learned something game-changing—the more visibility I got, the easier everything else became: sales, opportunities, credibility. It was like flipping a switch.
But I also saw so many talented small business owners getting skipped over simply because they didn’t have the insider knowledge or a big PR budget to play with.
Then Covid hit, and I was on the social media app Clubhouse listening to entrepreneurs ask for advice on how to get press. And I heard too many “experts” offer the wrong advice on how to pitch the media.
I couldn’t sit on the sidelines any longer. I knew exactly how to save these founders from going in a direction that would cause lots of frustration and lost time and money because when I say I know what makes a journalist pay attention, I know…because I’ve lived it.
The next day I announced that I’m a PR Coach for small business founders in the beauty, lifestyle and wellness space and within 48 hours I signed my first client. My mission is to even the playing field and am using my 20+ years of media experience and insider access to contacts so you can confidently pitch your brand and get featured without spending a fortune.
No cookie-cutter advice here—just real, actionable steps to help you stand out, grab attention, and secure the publicity you deserve.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Far from it! It’s been a journey with many ups and downs. Especially as a solopreneur, there are always more tasks you want to complete, ideas you want to go after and so forth. But the way that has felt best to me to run my business is to not force an offer just to jump on a trend or invest tons of money on forward facing projects like having a fancy website so I have better “curb appeal.” Instead, I create my programs around providing the best content with the intention of serving vs. selling. As a result, the majority of my clients come from former clients who recommend me to their networks and friends.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nicole Pearl Consulting ?
I’m a PR coach using my 20+ years as a beauty editor, freelance journalist and On-Air expert to teach you how to get featured, own your PR strategy, build lasting media relationships and monetize your press without spending thousands.
My mission is to even the playing field and empower small business founders in the beauty, lifestyle, fashion and wellness space, so you can get seen regardless of your experience, connections or budget.
Being that I’m on both sides of the pitch inbox, writing for countless outlets including Oprah Daily and Byrdie and getting featured in Forbes and The New York Times, I know how to make you and your product irresistibly newsworthy.
Before I was a PR coach, I built my personal brand “The Beauty Girl” from scratch. And I learned something game-changing—the more visibility I got, the easier everything else became: sales, opportunities, credibility. It was like flipping a switch.
But I also saw so many talented small business owners getting skipped over simply because they didn’t have the insider knowledge or a big PR budget to play with.
That’s why I’m now sharing it all — including the same strategies and tools I use to land segments as a beauty expert on national shows like TODAY and ExtraTV and on regional shows throughout the US.
I work with my clients 1:1 and in small groups and am known for not just helping them land top-tier press, but for providing a 360-approach to visibility. This includes messaging, positioning, pitching, collaborations, access to connections, and more.
Most of all, my clients feel my dedication to their growth, they have fun during the process, and many have shared with me that I’m the best thing that’s happened to their business this year. One client has even nicknamed me “yoda”!
As an award-winning PR coach, I’m committed to breaking down barriers and turning you into the brand the press (and your dream audience) can’t stop talking about.
Like I always say, “Beauty Shouldn’t Be a Bitc%…and neither should getting on TV.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
While a challenge felt like bad luck in the moment, it ended up being good luck because I wouldn’t be where I am today had I not experienced the “no”. I allow myself to feel the setback when it happens for a day or two. But then I decide how I will work through it and use it to make a pivot that will lead to a better outcome.
