Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Clancy
Hi Nick, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I got my start as a novice barista, back in 2016 at a small roast house in Gilbert AZ called Bergies. It was there that I fell in love with every aspect of Specialty coffee. Eventually, I took up the art of roasting my own coffee at home- to my surprise, being responsible for turning a green coffee seed brown while retaining flavor was mighty difficult! After many failed attempts, I became obsessed with the challenges of not only roasting tasty coffee, but learning how to maximize flavor. I was determined. So I dedicated myself to the craft.
We stand here today, proud, knowing that we didn’t cut any corners. We know how to roast the best tasting coffee available. And that is the foundation for our business Clancy Brothers Coffee Roasters. People deserve our best effort!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve been fortunate to have great momentum which has allowed us to be nimble as we go. The struggles has primarily been staff consistency, staying true to our core values, and knowing where to direct our time and energy in terms of growth and profitability.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are the bridge that allows people to cross from liking coffee to loving it. Most people don’t even know about the category we are in called Specialty Coffee. It is our job to allow people to approach this new wave of coffee in a way that will not only surpirse them, but potentially shift the paradigm for how good they thought coffee could be. It’s more than a brown caffeated beverage. We sometimes say, it’sm MUCH MORE than caffeeine, but certainly not less =) It’s a lifestyle, it’s a workplace, it’s a hangout, its an ark of safrety and peace, it’s a fortress of solitude. I am most proud of our team. Our team is the lifeblood of clancy brothrs. They have all bought into the standard for why we exist, and what we’re here to deliver for people. I couldn’t be prouder of my team.
What are your plans for the future?
We want to expand our outreach but opening several stores in the chicagoland area as well as increase our presence in the wholesale coffee market. We want businesses to prosper by selling better tasting coffee.
