Hi Monty, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

I started detailing in my parent’s garage when I was in high school. At the time I was working normal jobs for a person that age but soon realized it wasn’t for me. After learning the ins and outs of detailing I launched Toe’s Detail out of that garage. After enough time I had enough to buy a van and go mobile. Since then it’s been a great journey. Those beginning years were defiantly rough but it helped me get to where I am today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

The road to a successful business is a never ending one. Before launching it seemed easy, but I learned very quickly it was not. The first struggles are learning how to run and manage a business which at a young age wasn’t the easiest but I enjoyed learning. Some things specific to my industry was learning how to control your environment and make it as suitable as possible for your work. Being a car detailer the weather has an effect on how much work you can do. When I decided to go mobile I realized that the fluctuating weather of Nevada would be a challenge and still is. Another struggle was finding the best products and tools to get the job done effectively and efficiently. This was a lot of trial and error but is a crucial step in making sure our clients are satisfied. After learning the basic building blocks of business it then turns in to perfecting the little stuff. To this day I still make slight tweaks and revisions to the business in hope to make it better in all areas. Your speed bumps will change as your business evolves but it is always a great time learning and getting over them.

What makes you happy?

What makes me happy is when my business does well. It’s a satisfying feeling when a project comes together. Working on something like this day in day out for the last few years its such a good feeling to see progress. That can be learning a new method or just having a busy day. It makes me happy because at the start it was a lot of failing. Now that it’s been a while it’s nice to succeed and that’s an amazing feeling. I always look back whenever I’m stressed about a problem I have now with the business and think about how before I only wished to have those problems. Doing so keeps me inspired and wanting to do more.
