Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikel Galati
Mikel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I own and operate a small screen printing shop. I’ve ran it solo for 12 years now. I focus on working with bands, musicians and likeminded individuals. Because playing in bands years and years ago is why i do what i do.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most things in life, it’s anything but a smooth road. Being self employed has its ups and downs. Business comes and goes, plenty of slow months and busy months. It’s just always a roller coaster.
I think pushing through the pandemic was a big thing for myself. My main clientele being focused on live music, and that whole community ceasing to exist. It was a troublesome time with a lot of unknowns. But i kept at it and just did my best to support the community of bands and musicians Anyway i could.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Modest Merch ?
Modest Merch is a small screen printing shop here in Chicago. I offer custom printed t shirts and apparel. Such as hoodies, long sleeves, crewnecks, tank tops and so on.
I think something that sets me apart from other shops is that i am very community focused. I support my clients and support those that support me. I absolutely love working with bands and musicians, and i love going to their shows and supporting them.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck is a fun one, i feel like I’m forever plagued by bad luck in so many ways. But i think my work ethic and my persistence lets me get through the negative times that bad luck brings.
I’ve hit turning points and brick walls. And i just work hard to get back to where i need to be.
