Today we’d like to introduce you to Latanya Foreman
Hi Latanya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey has been filled with laughter, tears, hardships, and transformative lessons. I am truly thankful to be here today. There were numerous moments that could have marked the end of my existence; whether physically or through the exhaustion of hope for the vibrant life I now embrace. Losing my father at 19 invaded every aspect of my being with grief. When his casket was lowered into the earth, I felt as though a piece of me was buried alongside him.
In an attempt to numb the pain, I turned to various behaviors. By the age of 20, I found myself as a single mother. Life continued to throw challenges my way, and I realized I was merely surviving rather than truly thriving. The healing I experienced was shallow, intertwined with my affection for reckless relationships, indulgent food, and material possessions. Ultimately, this only resulted in heartache, struggles with my weight, and financial difficulties.
The journey towards emotional healing remains a daily endeavor. It has only been achievable through rekindling my relationship with God and the man He brought into my life. Today, I am happily married to my “purpose mate,” and the essence of my joy is rooted in my spiritual journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey through life has certainly been anything but straightforward. In fact, the struggles I faced led me to question whether God truly loved me. My eldest son fought against mental health issues and drug addiction, and my efforts to support him nearly shattered me. The burden of managing his tumultuous lifestyle, filled with legal troubles and medical crises, was incredibly challenging. If it wasn’t the police or hospital reaching out to me, it was dealing with his aggressive behavior as he continued his battle with a Bi-polar disorder.
I spent years rushing to his aid, transporting him from various hospitals, and desperately urging him to seek the help he needed, all to no avail. He passed away on June 11, 2023. Since then, I have been trying to find a new normal in a life without my son. For a long time, I felt anger toward God because I wished for his healing here on earth, but God had a different plan.
Now, I have committed my life to support others who have walked a similar path. I serve as a mental health advocate and empowerment speaker. While I may not have been able to save my son, I hope my story can help others realize that there is still purpose after the storms of life.
We’ve been impressed with RL Coaching & Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I consider myself extremely fortunate to operate this business with my husband. Our mission is to encourage people to have faith in God, themselves, and their dreams. We connect with individuals across various platforms, serving as supportive agents in their emotional, spiritual, and physical transformation journeys. Our consulting firm, RL Coaching and Consulting, specializes in assisting adults who wish to start businesses, find their purpose, and reach their objectives. We offer life coaching and a variety of business services tailored to help individuals thrive in their chosen careers or aspirations. Additionally, we support youth through our other venture, Reggie the Lion, LLC. This faith-based character spreads positive affirmations, and our product line currently consists of books and apparel while seeking funding to launch a toy line. We also have a children’s show available on the BeeTV Network in the Alabama and Georgia regions. Our thriving YouTube Channel @ReggieTheLionAndFriends features replays every Sunday. For more information, we encourage others to visit us at www.ReggieTheLion.com.
What sets us apart is our dedication to nurturing individuals from within rather than merely enhancing their brand. We believe that true transformation occurs when personal obstacles hindering success are addressed. By fostering emotional and spiritual well-being, we create a clearer path toward discovering purpose and achieving success.
Alongside my involvement with these organizations, I am also a published author and poet. My debut book, Quiet Storm, is a memoir intertwined with poetry that explores the depths of the human heart, revealing topics we often shy away from. Through this poetic journey, I have openly shared my deepest losses and the painful experiences of my life. I discovered the freedom to express how I achieved healing and restoration by embracing my challenges and overcoming the grip of shame.
Kings Cry Too is a tribute to my late son, Adarius Simmons. Inspired by God, I crafted this narrative using my son’s artwork alongside my poetry to highlight his mental health struggles. The latter part of this book aims to inspire and empower men of all ages. Additionally, I have collaborated on other projects with my husband, Reginald Foreman. All books are available on my personal website, www.LaTanyaForeman.com.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice for those just beginning their journey is to remain authentic. While earning a paycheck is important, discovering your true calling is the ultimate objective. When our careers are out of alignment, we often experience a lack of fulfillment, direction, and clarity. Take a moment to reflect on the question, “What was I meant to do?” All of us are here for a purpose. Frequently, we go to great lengths for others, including employers, children, family, and friends. However, when those relationships fade, what remains? Make sure to extend the same level of commitment to yourself that you generously offer to others.
