Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Purcell.

Katrina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?

My career journey began in media, working as a Quality Control Technician at Discovery Channel. However, I soon realized that my passion lay in live news, leading me to pursue opportunities in New York City at Bloomberg News. Over time, I transitioned into project and program management within media technology, where I thrived in leading complex projects and driving innovation. Recognizing the evolving media landscape and the increasing importance of digital technologies, I pursued an MBA from Columbia Business School to further enhance my business acumen.  

Armed with a strong foundation in operations, technology, and business strategy, I took on leadership roles as Chief of Staff at Integral Ad Science and Harri Technologies, where I played a key role in scaling operations, optimizing processes, and driving revenue growth. Throughout my career, I have consistently sought opportunities to challenge myself, embrace new experiences, and expand my skillset. This drive led me to establish Katrina Purcell LLC, where I now leverage my expertise to help businesses achieve their full potential through strategic guidance and operational excellence.  

My journey has been shaped by a passion for continuous learning, a commitment to excellence, and a desire to make a positive impact. I am excited to continue this journey, partnering with organizations to navigate challenges, unlock opportunities, and achieve sustainable growth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

While my career journey has been incredibly rewarding, it certainly hasn’t been without its challenges.

Some of the struggles I’ve encountered along the way include:

Imposter Syndrome: Early in my career, I often struggled with feelings of self-doubt and questioned whether I truly belonged in leadership positions. Overcoming this required conscious effort to recognize my accomplishments, embrace my strengths, and cultivate self-confidence.

Navigating Change: The constantly evolving business landscape, particularly in the technology and media sectors, has required me to be adaptable and embrace change. This has involved continuously learning new skills, staying ahead of industry trends, and navigating organizational transformations.

Breaking Barriers: As a woman in leadership, I’ve encountered instances of bias and stereotypes. Overcoming these challenges has required resilience, perseverance, and a commitment to advocating for myself and other women in the workplace.

I view each challenge as a valuable learning experiences that has shaped my leadership style and strengthened my resolve. I believe that embracing challenges, learning from setbacks, and continuously growing are essential for achieving long-term success.
