Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabelle Nanin

Hi Isabelle , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

After moving to the United Kingdom from France, at the age of 36, I achieved my dream: I had become an Export Sales Manager for a steel company, overcoming language and gender barriers.
I traveled worldwide, negotiating large contracts in different languages. Glamorous, you would say. Well, yes at first, but I thought: “what’s next, then?” I was totally lost, without a vision to focus on and a purpose to work towards. I felt that I was at a round-about, going round and round not knowing which exit to choose.

I remembered that, as a teenager, I wanted to travel to South America. I knew that it was the right decision. I sold everything and backpacked, alone, in five South American countries for nearly five months. That was a life changing experience and I fell in love with Ecuador, now my true home.

I realized, that I was the ONLY ONE with the POWER to change my life and if I had not made the decision to change it, I would have been stuck, feeling unhappy.

My experience to pursue my dreams, and fulfill them, was the springboard to my real purpose and I became an International Women’s Empowerment Coach (ICF certified) and created Fenix Coaching & Training.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

As I reflect on my journey while writing this article, it becomes clear that I made moves from France to England to enhance my English skills and I also advanced my professional career. Then, I took a leap of faith and followed a dream, back-packing to South America. I fell in love with Ecuador, which is now my beloved home.

Initially, the language barrier posed a significant challenge. It was frustrating to communicate effectively, express my thoughts and convey my needs.

In addition to mastering the language, I had to familiarize myself with the cultural norms and expectations that were distinct from those in France. Understanding what was acceptable and what was not took time.

Leaving my homeland to start anew in a foreign land with unfamiliar customs and language was undeniably challenging. However, this experience has shaped me into the woman I am today.

What do you like and dislike about the city?

I enjoy meeting new people, but I place a high value on authenticity as it is crucial for establishing trust. I strongly dislike fake relationships.

I love walking my dogs in the park and enjoy reading a good book while lounging in my hammock.

I could spend the whole night salsa dancing. Viva!
