Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Elder-reedy
Hi Frankie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a curvy girl who loves working out, but I was incredibly frustrated with the way sports bras were designed while claiming to be “no bounce.” I was tired of searching for a sports bra that actually kept my boobs from bouncing, only to find more discomfort in bras that attempted to reduce bounce by either being too tight or lifting my boobs higher, which only caused shoulder pain. Whether I was running, playing volleyball, or doing a HIIT workout, I kept thinking, ‘Why don’t they make something that keeps boobs from going up?’ I realized that the only way to actually stop the bounce was to keep them from going up in the first place. This thought stuck with me for YEARS. Burpee after burpee, mile after mile, I struggled, cursed, and complained—until finally, I decided to see if I could make something myself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle I faced right out of the gate was that I didn’t even know how to sew a pillow, let alone engineer a garment to do something no sports bra has ever done before! I had to find someone trustworthy who would understand my vision and could transform my ideas into a real, tangible product. Luckily, I found her—Heather Zager with Made Apparel in Seattle, WA. Working with her has been an absolute joy. I’ll never forget receiving the first prototype and testing it out. Step one was to see if my idea could even work, and I will forever remember the first few moments of wearing that very first Wrax. I was ELATED! I knew right then that Wrax was going to be something special, something that could disrupt the entire sports bra industry. After many iterations, we now have Wrax Max and Wrax Flex. We’re continuing to innovate and improve as we go, and I’m loving every single moment of it!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Wrax ?
Wrax is all about empowering women to move freely and confidently. We’re here to obliterate the limitations of bouncing boobs so that women can discover what they are truly capable of. Far too many women avoid working out altogether or modify their workouts due to the discomfort, pain, and embarrassment of bouncing boobs. This is just not okay. Women deserve to be able to move their bodies with complete freedom and confidence, and Wrax is here to help them do just that.
What sets us apart is our innovative, patent-pending design, which reduces both upward and lateral movement of the breasts—something no other sports bra has been able to achieve. We’re not just another sports bra company; we’re disruptors in the industry, challenging the status quo with a new and genius approach to an age-old problem. I’m incredibly proud of the fact that all Wrax products are hand-sewn in Kansas City, ensuring top-notch quality and attention to detail. From the women who engineered and sewed Wrax to the women who wear it—Wrax is a revolution.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a happy kid! I had a beautiful childhood, and I’m acutely aware of how fortunate I am for that. I’ve always been a disruptor at heart, never content to just follow the crowd. Conformity has never appealed to me—I’ve always found it quite boring. While I never sought the spotlight, I also didn’t want to be just like everyone else.
Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve always had a wide range of interests. It seems natural to want to explore different and challenging things, sometimes all at once. There’s something magical about taking a thought from your mind and turning it into a reality. That drive to create is something I definitely inherited from my dad, who was an art teacher. He was always doodling—sketching ideas, flow diagrams, brainstorm maps—finding ways to bring his thoughts to life on paper.
This curiosity about possibility has always been at the forefront of my existence, and I think I learned that from watching my dad. Ideas are ever-flowing, and sometimes it’s a challenge to reel myself in. But that’s just who I’ve always been.
As for the brand, Wrax isn’t just a clever play on words, though I hope people appreciate the humor in it. The spelling has a deeper meaning for me. My dad named me after his dad, Frank, and gave me the middle name Wrey (pronounced Ray). So, spelling Wrax the way I did is my way of honoring my dad.
