Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Cochran.
Hi Christopher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My Journey: From Tragedy to Purpose
Life has a way of shaping us through both profound joy and deep sorrow. My journey has been one of resilience, love, and an unyielding commitment to making a difference.
It all began with my son, Christian. From a young age, he embodied kindness, empathy, and an incredible strength of spirit. When he received a terminal diagnosis at 22, he responded not with despair but with grace, saying, “It’s OK, I would rather this be my burden than anyone else.” Instead of asking, “Why me?” he asked, “What’s GOOD About TODAY?”—a question that would change my life and the lives of countless others.
After Christian passed, I found myself standing at a crossroads. The grief was overwhelming, but his message of hope and gratitude became my guiding light. I channeled my pain into purpose, writing What’s GOOD About TODAY? – A Purpose Driven Life to share Christian’s wisdom with the world. That book opened doors to global conversations about grief, healing, and the power of perspective.
Through this journey, I have spoken on national and international platforms, sharing Christian’s story and inspiring others to live with intentionality. My message resonated with so many—those who had lost loved ones, those seeking meaning, and those simply looking for a way to reframe their everyday struggles.
As my work expanded, Christian’s wish before he passed was to establish the Christian Cochran Legacy Fund through the Pittsburgh Foundation. This fund honors his legacy by providing support for families navigating loss. I also founded What’s GOOD About TODAY? as more than a book title—it became a movement, a philosophy that reminds us to find gratitude even in life’s hardest moments.
Beyond my advocacy, I have spent years in leadership, building companies and serving on boards, including my role as CEO of BluChip Solutions and my work with Coeptis, a biotech company focused on solving hard-to-cure cancers.
Every step of this journey has been deeply personal. It is not just about business, speaking engagements, or books—it is about honoring Christian, carrying his light forward, and helping others do the same. If there is one thing I have learned, it is this: purpose can emerge from pain, and no matter what we face, we can always ask, “What’s GOOD About TODAY?”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. Losing my son, Christian, was the most painful experience of my life. There is no way to truly prepare for the heartbreak of watching someone you love face an unimaginable reality. Christian, with his incredible grace, led the way in teaching us all how to embrace life even in the face of profound loss.
In the aftermath of his passing, I struggled with overwhelming grief. There were days when even getting out of bed felt impossible. Yet, I knew I had a choice—I could let grief consume me, or I could honor Christian’s legacy by carrying his message forward. Finding purpose in pain became my guiding force, but it was never easy.
Beyond the personal loss, I faced challenges in sharing Christian’s message with the world. Writing What’s GOOD About TODAY? – A Purpose Driven Life was deeply emotional. Every word was a reminder of what I had lost, but also of what Christian had taught me about living with gratitude. There were moments of doubt—wondering if I was strong enough to do this, questioning whether others would understand his message the way I did.
Building awareness and fostering a movement around What’s GOOD About TODAY? required resilience. I had to step into the public eye, reliving my story in interviews, speeches, and conversations. Speaking on national platforms and engaging with people who shared their own losses has been both healing and emotionally draining.
Through it all, I learned that healing is not linear. Some days are easier than others. But I have also discovered the incredible power of community, faith, and purpose. Every challenge has strengthened my resolve to spread Christian’s message—to remind people that even in the hardest moments, we can always find something good about today.
