Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie May
Hi Angie , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Angie May and I started my journey with getting my masters in counseling. While it was unknown to me at the time what I wanted to do with this degree, I knew this was the first step. After graduating and getting certified in the Enneagram Personality Assessment, I quickly realized there was a need for leadership development in the professional sector. The desire to meet that need prompted me to start Kairos Koaching.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t believe that anything worth doing when it comes to starting a business and having deep personal impact comes with a smooth road. A year after I started Kairos Koaching, Covid hit and while that certainly created a need for people to understand themselves and how they cope with stress, there were few people that wanted to financially invest in their personal growth. When you hit a cross roads like this, you have a couple of options; complain, quit or work harder. I chose the latter.
As you know, we’re big fans of Kairos Koaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
While I started my business working with people one on one, that has slowly grown to also working with businesses, organizations and school districts. I always say, “everything starts with awareness and once you are aware, you are responsible.” This has been a fundamental truth in my practice. I help individuals and organizations peel back the layers and open their eyes to the internal beliefs that are holding them back from being holistically healthy. Our behavior follows our belief system so if there is a behavior that is consistently getting in the way of progress whether personally or professionally, I believe it is tied to an internal message board. What do you believe about yourself, others and the world around you that is impacting your choices?
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
If quitting ever becomes an option, when life gets hard that is what you will choose. There is always something to be grateful for and something I can do to move forward in a positive way. Quitting isn’t an option.
