Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Singleton.
Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Amy Singleton’s journey is a testament to resilience, authenticity, and the power of embracing one’s true self. Born and raised in Cleveland County, Oklahoma, Amy grew up as an extroverted and spirited child who often felt out of place. Her loud and rambunctious nature, coupled with her awkwardness and weight struggles, led to feelings of isolation. However, these early experiences laid the foundation for her later realization that true strength comes from accepting and loving oneself.
Amy’s path was not a straightforward one. She initially pursued a career in nursing, driven by a desire to help others and inspired by her early experiences working in a hospital ER. She became an operating room nurse, specializing in open heart surgeries, a role that allowed her to blend her compassion for patients with her medical expertise. But life had other plans. A series of health challenges, including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and a broken back, forced her to leave her nursing career, plunging her into a period of deep despair and depression.
The end of her marriage to her best friend, who came out as gay, added to her emotional turmoil. Amy found herself struggling with her identity and purpose, leading her to a dark place where she contemplated ending her life. But even in her darkest moments, she found a spark of hope. Through small, incremental steps and the support of therapy, she began to rebuild her life, embracing sobriety and finding new purpose.
Amy’s journey of self-acceptance and healing ignited a passion for helping others. She founded Hite Digital Norman, a digital marketing agency, where she helps businesses clarify and magnify their messages online, providing them with steady lead sources and the confidence to thrive. Her approach to business is grounded in honesty, integrity, and a deep commitment to her clients’ success. She believes in being straightforward about what her team can and cannot accomplish, fostering trust and genuine connections with those she serves.
Beyond her professional achievements, Amy is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She serves on the board of The Virtue Center, a nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals recover from addiction. As a recovering addict herself, Amy is passionate about “carrying buckets of water back to the fire,” offering hope and support to those still struggling.
Amy’s leadership style is characterized by leading from the front and “doing it scared.” She mentors her team with a focus on positive intent, accountability, and excellence, drawing inspiration from mentors like John Maxwell. Her authenticity and willingness to share her story have made her a sought-after speaker, podcast host, and community leader. Her podcast, Queens Lead, provides a platform for women entrepreneurs to share their stories, inspiring others to embrace their true selves.
In her personal life, Amy integrates her faith and values into everything she does. She starts her days with quiet time, Bible reading, meditation, and journaling, nurturing her spirit and setting a positive tone for the day. Her life is a harmonious blend of family, business, and personal well-being, reflecting her belief that these elements are not separate but interconnected parts of a fulfilling life.
Amy Singleton is more than a business owner; she is a beacon of hope and authenticity. Her story is one of overcoming adversity, embracing one’s true self, and using personal experiences to uplift others. She embodies the spirit of resilience and the power of genuine connection, making a lasting impact on her community and everyone she meets. Through her work, her advocacy, and her daily actions, Amy strives to leave the world a better place, embodying the values of faith, personal responsibility, and unwavering kindness.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Amy Singleton has faced a myriad of obstacles and challenges over the years, each shaping her into the resilient and compassionate leader she is today. From growing up as an awkward, overweight child struggling to fit in, to battling severe health issues that ended her nursing career, Amy’s journey has been marked by significant personal and professional trials. She has confronted extreme obesity, addiction, cancer, miscarriage, and the heartbreak of discovering her husband’s true sexual orientation, leading to the dissolution of her marriage. Additionally, she has navigated the complexities of living with lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and depression, all while overcoming a broken back. Despite these immense challenges, Amy found strength in her faith and community, using her experiences to fuel her passion for helping others and transforming adversity into a powerful story of hope and resilience.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up as a very extroverted kiddo in Oklahoma City. I KNEW i was born for stages & performance but always let fear and lack of resources hold me back. I was so determined in my mind, that I regularly told people that Dolly Parton was my “real” mother, in front of my real mother. My family didn’t know how to handle my loud, rambunctious self. I was always looking for a stage to perform on whether it was singing, dancing or acting. My maternal grandmother just knew that I’d be a writer of greeting cards, or a news anchor on a major media outlet. I was, however, a chubby and awkward child, so I was never really given the spotlight. The 80s and 90s were a time for beautiful & THIN women, not girls like ME. I was the mascot of my high school, because I wanted so badly to fit in with the cheerleaders. I was very involved with the choir, show choir, drama and acting crowds in school but was never really given the opportunity to shine. My Grammy died before she got the opportunity to see me host my podcast or actually be on the news, as I have been several times now. I became interested in medicine when I was working a job at a hospital ER. I wanted to be a doctor, an anesthesiologist, in fact. Just like I let my limitations hold me back from a career in media, I let fear hold me back from medical school. I thought it was selfish to take so much time and money to go to school when I had a fiancé/husband who wanted to go to school too. So, I settled for being a nurse. An operating room nurse doing open heart surgeries for nearly a decade. I was very proud to be able to communicate with the patients and their families during such a difficult time. My own health robbed me of that career in 2012 when I was diagnosed with a host of medical problems that put me in a wheelchair and living back with my parents. Unable to cope with the loss of identity through my divorce and loss of career, I became desperately suicidal, and eventually started drinking heavily to deal with the physical and emotional pain. I finally found lasting sobriety on Easter Sunday April 1st 2018, when my new husband, Joseph and I made the decision to put down the bottle and move beyond that pain another way. I was introduced to God early in my life at age 5 when my grandfather, DaddyPa, passed away. I had an on-again-off-again relationship with God, until 2023, when an NFL superstar led me back to Him at a business conference in Costa Rica. Since then, my life has been exponentially better.
