Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Bette
Hi Alyssa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey has been shaped by overcoming challenges, especially in my childhood, which taught me resilience from a young age. As I grew older, I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Learning to manage my mental health became a priority. It wasn’t easy but it’s been one of the most rewarding parts of my life.
That commitment to growth and healing inspired me to launch Mindfull Mode, a brand focused on making mental health fashionable and helping others feel less alone. Through that journey, I began sharing my story more openly on social media, talking about mental health, relationships, all the raw and unfiltered parts of life. Those conversations resonated with many, leading to opportunities to be interviewed and featured as a guest on podcasts.
Eventually, I realized I wanted to create my own space for these conversations, which is how my podcast, Full Minded with Alyssa Bette was born. It is a platform for me to dive even deeper into mental health, self-discovery and the human experience, while also sharing stories from others.
More recently, I have launched Milara, a luxury hair accessories brand designed to help people feel confident and elegant in their everyday lives. It’s been so exciting to step into the world of fashion and bring my vision to life. Every part of my journey—from managing my mental health to creating these brands—has been about helping people feel seen, empowered and celebrated.
My life now is a love letter to my inner child.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—far from it honestly. My journey has been marked by some really challenging chapters, especially with my mental health and a decade-long struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. Those years were incredibly tough as I used substances to numb a lot of pain I didn’t know how to face at the time.
Heartbreak was also a big part of that story. Whether it was relationships falling apart or losing myself in the process, the emotional toll added another layer to the struggle. What I have learned is that hitting rock bottom can sometimes be the greatest teacher.
Getting sober and learning to manage my mental health became my turning point. It forced me to confront the parts of myself I was avoiding and taught me resilience in a way nothing else could. Now, I channel those experiences into everything I do—whether it’s my podcast, my businesses, or the way I show up on social media. It wasn’t an easy road but it’s one I wouldn’t trade because it led me to where I am today.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mindfull Mode is more than just a brand—it’s a movement. For me, the name itself is a reflection of the idea that our minds are often so full and mental health can feel overwhelming. I created Mindfull Mode with the goal of breaking the stigma around mental health, raising awareness and making it something people feel proud to own. I wanted to normalize these conversations in a way that feels empowering and even trendy so that people feel less shame and more confidence in sharing their struggles.
What sets Mindfull Mode apart is the heart behind the brand. It’s not just about the jewelry and accessories—it’s about what they represent. Each piece is designed to remind people they’re not alone and that mental health is something to be embraced, not hidden.
One of the things I’m most proud of is how I run my business. I make it a priority to check in on my team’s mental health and foster a supportive, empathetic work environment. My employees aren’t just workers—they’re incredible humans and their well-being matters deeply to me. I believe that how you treat your team reflects your values as a brand and I strive to lead with kindness and intention in everything we do.
That same intention carries over into what we offer at Mindfull Mode. We provide thoughtfully curated collections of jewelry and accessories for both men and women, as well as versatile totes and other accessories that embody the same message of mental health awareness and empowerment. Each piece is designed to spark conversations about mental health in a way that feels approachable and meaningful.
Beyond our products, we’re creating a community where mental health is normalized and celebrated. Whether it’s through pop-ups, markets or online interactions, Mindfull Mode is more than a brand—it’s a space where people can feel seen and supported.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Predicting the future of any industry can be a bit tricky but what I hope to see over the next 5 to 10 years is a greater emphasis on normalizing mental health through all aspects of life, including fashion and everyday conversations. I’d love for the stigma surrounding mental health to continue to dissolve, with more brands, businesses, and individuals embracing openness and awareness.
As for me, my goals align with that vision. Over the next 5 to 10 years, I want to grow Mindfull Mode into a global brand that’s recognized not just for its products but for its impact. I want to continue expanding our collections, hosting pop-ups worldwide, opening storefronts and fostering a community that feels connected and supported. I also hope to use my platform to collaborate with other brands, advocates and creators to keep pushing mental health into mainstream conversations.
While I can’t predict exactly where the industry is heading, I know that Mindfull Mode will continue to be at the forefront of making mental health fashionable and unapologetically celebrated.
