Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Mufson
Hi Alex, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a feminist, a CEO, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I started my first business at three years old. It was imaginary, but she had the last remaining Wooly Mammoth, so it was also cool as hell. My latest project scaled zero to seven figures in under three years. I’ve taken all the risks and built businesses that were truly aligned for me AND businesses that made money while also keeping me sick. My personal story has been pretty dramatic, from unexplained brain hemmorhages, advanced staged endometriosis and a wildly dramatic divorce. All of that serves me in supporting others because I know that life is not a straight line and though we can’t control everything that happens to us, we are absolutely in control of the meaning we choose to attach to it.
Despite all of my advanced clinical training, I realized you can do all the therapy in the world but if you are stuck in a soul-sucking job and in sick relationships, you will still hate your life. So now it’s all about freeing people as fast as possible so we can all use our energy to do good in this world. I’m committed to business as a form of art and activism, offering disruptive ways to make money without centering profits–or being an asshole. In everything I do, I’m on a mission to redirect the flow of capital from those who do harm with it to those who heal with it.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has absolutely NOT been a smooth road! When I was twenty four years old I was a successful horse trainer and I woke up one morning with some crazy neurological symptoms. This sent me on a path to some of the best neurologists all over the country and none of them could give me an answer. Everything changed for me, not just changing my relationship with my body and the medical system, but also with business. I realized I had built a business from nothing, but I served the business. When I became sick and needed the business to support me, it did nothing without my energy and health. No one knew if I would live or die, and this unknown provided me the opportunity change everything about relationship to work and ultimately my life.
As you know, we’re big fans of Rêv. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Rêv we are committed to business as an act of revolution, empowering entrepreneurs with Human Design to think beyond what we have been taught about work, money, life and relationships. We empower experts, early stage entrepreneurs and visionaries growing to seven figures and beyond to de-center profits and center their values. We specialize in working with exceptional, passionate and talented people to build companies that transcend the norm and serve humanity. Rêv is not a business coaching operation, we are a collective of mentors who have done what our clients want to do and want to help them build their vision as fast as possible, because we know our clients will serve the world in positive ways. Human Design serves us to build the business that is truly in alignment with each individual and team, but we don’t stop there, we also offer all the nitty gritty, from HR to financial services.
Rêv is on a mission to redirect the flow of capital from those who do harm with it to those who heal with it.
We know that our intersectional identities and those of the people we serve will vary widely, but that core mission remains the same. We understand ourselves to be connected to humanity as a whole and part of a greater movement for liberation. We are convinced that if wealth is channeled towards those who share our vision of a decolonized world rooted in intersectional feminism and anti-racism, those same people will use those resources to bring exponentially improved health and safety to all. With this conviction, we aim to contribute meaningfully to the revolution that is needed for us all to find peace.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’m not sure what city you are referring to, but I’m happy to respond if you follow up with more details. Thanks!
