A Journey Through the Lens: My Story

My passion for photography began in childhood when my grandparents gifted me a small digital camera for my birthday. It was 2009, and I was just 14—a teenager with big dreams and a hope that one day, I could create something meaningful through photography.

Like many, I initially tried to follow a conventional path. I juggled different jobs, attended college, and navigated the rhythms of everyday life. But deep down, I knew my heart belonged elsewhere. In 2016, I made the life-changing decision to fully commit to what I had always been meant to do: photography.

My journey started with a collaboration with a friend who was a clothing designer. Together, we worked on small campaigns, and I drew inspiration from renowned photographers across the globe. This marked the beginning of my career in fashion photography—a field that fueled my creativity and allowed me to refine my craft.

Four years later, I ventured into the wedding industry. It was a refreshing new chapter, filled with raw emotions, unforgettable moments, and the joy of being part of my clients’ most cherished days. Capturing love stories added depth to my work and brought a new sense of fulfillment.

Today, I specialize in destination events across Greece and Europe, blending the elegance of fashion photography with the authenticity of wedding storytelling. Watching my business grow so rapidly has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited for the future. Whether working on editorial fashion shoots or capturing timeless wedding moments, I am driven by the same passion that began with a small digital camera all those years ago.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

The road to pursuing my dreams has been anything but smooth. It came with its fair share of obstacles and challenges. Over the years, I’ve learned not to let disappointments define me or hold me back.

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason. Every setback, every failure, was perhaps the universe’s way of telling me I wasn’t ready—yet. These moments weren’t the end of the road; they were stepping stones, shaping me into the person and photographer I am today.

Instead of viewing failure as a stopping point, I embraced it as an opportunity to grow, learn, and prepare for what was to come. This mindset has guided me through the highs and lows, reminding me that every challenge has its purpose.

Since 2016, Alerian Photography has been dedicated to capturing love stories with authenticity and artistry. Specializing in wedding and couples’ photography across Greece and Europe, I am passionate about turning your most precious moments into timeless memories.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?

One of my favorite childhood memories is spending summers at my grandparents’ house in a small village in Romania. Their home was nestled at the foot of a vineyard, and the view from there was nothing short of magical. Rolling hills, endless rows of grapevines, and golden sunsets—this landscape felt like a dream and became my first source of creative inspiration.

It was here that my love for photography began to take root. I remember wandering through the vineyard, taking snapshots with my old camera phone, captivated by the beauty around me. Those simple moments of exploration and wonder were what first opened my eyes to the art of capturing the world through a lens.

Looking back, I realize how much those summers influenced not just my passion but the way I see and tell stories through photography today.
