One lesson I recently learned during my academic career is that it is paramount to have a harmonic balance uniquely curated for yourself, rather than others. While just completing my first semester of college I have had the privilege of looking back on my semester and the people around me and being able to recognize and understand different things that led to my successes and failures of this year. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity. My college football head coach drilled this into our heads as student athletes, and it has stuck with me into my post grad, professional and personal life. Adversity is inevitable, so it’s important to be adaptive and creative in the ways that you overcome obstacles thrown your way. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned being a Licensed Cosmetologist is that you’ve got to be resilient! When I was in cosmetology school in 2015 the beauty industry was still in its “natural beauty” era. So the styling was alot of “sew ins with leave out”, natural ponytails, silk presses and braids. My teacher, Ms. Johnson taught me well on how to properly execute those styles and how to do it while maintaining the integrity of my clients hair. Read More>>
