One of the best things about video games is the ability to restart – you can use your learnings to move faster and avoid obstacles. We often think about what we would do differently if we were starting over in business and we figured others probably think about this as well and so we asked the community to share their thoughts with us.

If I were to start over today the one thing I would say to myself “don’t be afraid, try something new” I started making just blankets and after one year I decided to try something new, today I’m making stuff animals just by looking at a picture and recreating it. I have so much fun doing it I wish I started sooner. Read more>>

I would have only started with one company vs two. We started with Uncle Yogi’s that focused on skincare and wellness and added Kadii for pain management. That was a lot of capital right out of the gate. Partnering with a great marketing firm with a proven track record would have also saved almost $100,000 in marketing dollars. Read more>>

This is a great question. If I were starting over again today, how would I do things differently? I think one of the things I would change is knowing that I can’t do it all. A significant part of what I was doing at the start was handling everything by myself. I would shoot the photos or videos and then edit them myself. Read more>>

Create as much art as possible without waiting for others to greenlight your ideas. If you do wait, you risk ending up with a hard drive full of missed opportunities. What you produce should be the best you can make it—but time is limited; ideas are not so much. Write as much as you can. Read more>>

If I started over today as a photographer, I would take an immersive approach from day one. Even as an introvert, I’ve learned that it’s much better to dive right into the industry rather than try to figure it all out solo. I would gain as much real-world experience as I could by attending content days, watching YouTube tutorials, offering free shoots, and shadowing experienced photographers to observe their skills firsthand. Surprisingly, starting from scratch is the most exciting part of the content journey. You can post whatever you’d like, without having to worry about an audience not reacting well. I have created multiple new accounts just to chase that initial feeling – of not caring about perfection and just posting. My biggest tip of advice for people just starting is simply, enjoy the process. Read more>>

If I were to start my fitness studio brands, BOXHAUS and Ekam Yoga & Pilates, all over again, I would undoubtedly approach the journey with a different perspective, one that values trust in the universe and embraces change. Over the years, I’ve learned that fear can be a formidable obstacle, and my hesitation to expand BOXHAUS into a franchise business earlier is a testament to that. One of the most significant lessons I’ve learned is the importance of recognizing the signs that the universe presents us with. Read more>>

If I were to start over with my photography I would definitely do things a little different. As a beginner in the photography world it is easy to lose focus and compare yourself to others work, and second guess yourself. I remember being on social media and scrolling through other photographers pages admiring and wishing my work looked just as theirs. Read more>>

I came to the US when I was 18 right after high school. I came here from a very different world. Thinking back, I feel it was as if I came from a different planet. I was a kid who spent her teenage years worrying about being suppressed as a woman during revolution, war and sanction-ridden Iran. Read more>>

great question I believe every step along the way has been a learning experience, and it’s all happened at the perfect pace. But, if I had to pick one thing, it would be to trust my gut more and not be afraid to say no. I’ve taken on gigs I didn’t really enjoy in the past because I worried about not having work that week. Even though I didn’t like those gigs, I still learned something from them. Read more>>

I would of taken it more serious a long time ago. The talent was always there but I treated it more like a hobby back then. It was just something I did for fun even though I was kind of known for it. I would of captured everything too, we been could of went viral lol Read more>>

If I were starting over, I’d definitely take more time to factor in the little things because they do make a big difference, I always used to shoot vertically for some reason. But I broke out of that eventually. Another one would be making more use of the environments I shoot in and investing in better editing software. Before I started using Lightroom, I edited certain shoots through Google photots. Read more>>

If I were starting today, I think the biggest thing I would focus on is staying true to what I believe and knowing my vision and what I want to bring forth with my brand. I’ve tried and attempted numerous things that I thought may have worked for me, but that wasn’t my calling. These things may have aligned with the surrounding factors of what I wanted to do, but it was not my area to excel in. Read more>>
