One of the best things about video games is the ability to restart – you can use your learnings to move faster and avoid obstacles. We often think about what we would do differently if we were starting over in business and we figured others probably think about this as well and so we asked the community to share their thoughts with us.

When I first got started, the fear of the unknown is what really held me back from taking any sort of next steps whether that was deciding to take on a new client, raising my prices, or investing in my business (platforms, systems, or professional development). I ran my business under a lot more stress than I could have for the first nine months because I was too scared to take the leap into things full time. As a multimedia business owner, I get asked this question a lot, “Would you have started your business differently?” The answer is, “Yes!” I would have learned and practiced moving in silence quickly. One of the things I hear all the time is the equipment, for photography and videography, is expensive. I tell new business owners, “For your birthday or Christmas, tell your family and friends to get you monetary gifts. Read more>>

If I were starting over today on the path to generating income as a landscape photographer, I would have committed to the niche more fully in the beginning. My roots with photography were from the film days, carrying a camera on a variety of backpacking and hiking trips over the years – from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to some of the highest summits in the Rocky Mountain National Park. It should have been obvious to me that my passion for photography is rooted in being in nature and photographing it. Read more>>
