My hero would be my dad & grandpa. They are my hero because I never seen them give up. I always see them get up and go make some money on their own time because they are entrepreneurs. I knew I wanted to be my own boss at an early age because I seen my dad and grandpa do it everyday, and still do. My parents are my heroes. We grew up fairly poor in a tiny two-bedroom home, my two older brothers and I sharing a small bedroom in our early years. Growing up I watched my parents work tirelessly to provide the best life they could for us. They worked long hours so they could move us to a bigger house and afford catholic school tuition. By high school, we were middle-class at best, and often looked down upon by our wealthier peers, but we were given amazing educations and I truly don’t believe my siblings and I would be where we are today without it. Shenika Rolle -Smith

My hero was, and is my father Ronald Rolle, and I say it like that because he has passed on, but he is still my hero because he was such a kind, honorable, smart, humble, genuine forgiving person, and I looked up to him so much he was so knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve learned so many things from my father. how to forgive others how to always be true to my word, but most definitely my father taught me entrepreneurship he would always say I don’t want you working for anyone and that stuck with me from a little girl so I grew up saying that I will be my own boss.
