My first job was a personal trainer at LA fitness. I had just graduated college in 2015 from Central Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. But I didn’t get that job right out of college. I struggled when I graduated to find a job in my field for about 6 months. After I got certified as a personal trainer, I went out on a few interviews. I didn’t get any offers, as I apparently didn’t have any experience. In one interview at a high end, well known gym I was asked by the manager: ‘why now?’’ Did he really just age discriminate me? I just answered the question as I didn’t want to lower myself to his immature level. I added a specialization to be able to offer more and got a job right away.
