Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? So, we asked some very sharp folks to tell us the stories of how they came up with the names of their brands.

I love this question! The name Edges of Earth Collective didn’t come out of nowhere. The first time I heard it was from a surfer at Smiths Beach, a famous spot in the southwest of Western Australia. I had just moved to Western Australia from New York City, and I was out of my depth. Literally. I was attempting to surf one of the more advanced waves in the region with almost no ocean knowledge or swimming experience. Unsurprisingly, my first attempts ended with me getting absolutely and completely pummeled! Read more>>

I wanted to make sure I was honoring the blessing that God gave me to be able to do photograph and the joy it would be to others. As I was finishing up a session with a family, I explained to them that it’s not about how much money I can make but capturing the blessings in each one of my clients. Then one of my clients said “you should call your business Captured Blessings.” I was immediately in agreement and so it was… from that day. Read more>>

My business name is Awarenest, and yes, it took me a while to find the perfect fit. As a Conscious Parenting Coach and Family Constellation Practitioner, I focus on raising people’s awareness. I knew I wanted something “awareness-related” in the name. At the same time, I wanted it to reflect the family aspect of my work. The name “Awarenest” combines both these elements beautifully. It signifies a safe, nurturing space—like a nest—where awareness can grow. My “why” is to raise awareness in parents so they can build mentally and physically healthier families, and I believe my business name embodies that mission perfectly. Read more>>

Naming anything – including a business – really is so hard! For me, the name Living With Strength came from my belief in the power of strength—both physical and emotional. As a health coach who helps women lose weight and heal their guts naturally, I’ve seen firsthand how strength transforms lives. It’s not just about physical resilience but also the inner strength to heal, grow, and create lasting change. Personally, I’ve faced a lot of gut and health challenges, and it was through finding my own strength that I was able to overcome them. I wanted a name that reflects that journey and inspires others to believe in their ability to heal and thrive. Read more>>

The name for my business, The Purifying Place, was given to me during an Akashic reading. The Akashic Records are believed to contain a vibrational archive of every soul’s journey and a reading helps you gain insight about your purpose in life and explore your soul’s deepest truths. The reading was done by my Reiki teacher during my Reiki II class training. I went into the reading with the question of, “Well, what do I do with all of this?” I had decided to learn how to do Reiki after experiencing a very transformative Reiki session, and little did I know, Reiki would open so many other gifts for me. Tart Boudoir was formerly known as Rae of Light Boudoir. I loved the old brand I had created but felt it was similar to a lot of other boudoir photographer’s brand – logo of a women’s silhouette, dark color scheme with a focus on black, etc. When I decided I wanted to rebrand, I knew I needed something that would be able to stand out in a saturated market. I wanted a brand that would be recognizable for its colors, font and logo. I reached out to my three sisters and mom to brainstorm ideas with me. I explained I wanted a new name that would be iconic, timeless and bold. One of my sisters presented the idea of “Tart”. Tart is an old slang word used to describe a sexually promiscuous woman; a women that wears clothing and make up to attract attention. It was also a word used in the 19th century meaning “pretty women”. I instantly loved this idea. What better word to use for my brand? I bring women into the studio to embrace their sexuality, to be dolled up in beautiful outfits and professionally done make-up and hair resulting in clients thriving in their confidence. I reached out to an individual to take my new brand idea and turn into reality. The results did not disappoint – I was in love with my new brand. Tart Boudoir is bold, sensual and iconic. Read more>>

I wanted my business name to identify that we are involved in celebrations. It needed to be a fun name that people associated with happiness, joy, and maybe even a party. I decided “sunny day” would be a perfect way to advertise that I wanted to help people’s sunny days be even more sunny with my products. I also wanted to honor my daughters in the name I chose. My first daughter, Daisy was stillborn at 33 weeks, and because of that my second pregnancy with my daughter Lottie was surrounded with fear and anxiety. Both of my girls were the reasons I started this business – to heal from losing Daisy, and to help me be a better mom to Lottie – by having a creative outlet just for myself. I took the first two letters of Daisy’s name (DA) and the last two of Lottie’s (IE) to spell “daie” which would add my heart into the name of the business. I studied American Sign Language in college, and had to take several linguistics classes, so I knew that phonetically “daie” would still be understandable to the my customers, and smashed all my ideas together to make Sunny Daie. My company is called Tender Attack. My business partner and I came up with the name after spending some time with words that meant something to us, or reflected how we work. We liked the combo because we’re both very calm and collected but yet we have a lot of energy to get the work done. Everyone who’s worked on one of our sets loves coming back and we’ve been able to develop some lasting business relationships, but we’re relentless in the pursuit of excellence in our industry, Read more>>

To be perfectly honest the idea & name came to me fairly easy. I’ve always loved to travel and was fascinated by the idea of a passport that was filled with stamps from dozens of countries around the world. It may be just a small little mark of proof that you visited a location, but for those who allow themselves to be fully immersed by the richness of the culture, the unique experiences, food and traditions specific to each country they visit they’re likely to have a long standing (perhaps life long) impression of those places imprinted on them forever. A passport stamp might signify a lot of different things to many people, for me it is a reminder of all the locations I’ve been fortunate enough to visit as well as a significant place holder for all the memories attached to that specific destination. The name of my business is Three Little Lotus. I have three daughters and in looking up the meaning behind the lotus flower it all just felt right to put together. The meaning behind the lotus flower is purity, rebirth, and strength. When I was venturing out on my own as an independent contractor and then having my home studio it was a real restart for me as an instructor. I had been teaching for other people for almost 20 years and the time felt right to market myself and all I had to offer. I wanted to be in one space and not travel around to multiple studios teaching Pilates, Yoga, and Dance as well as be a role model for my girls as an entrepreneur and small business owner. Needless to say, using the word “lotus: was a perfect fit. Read more>>

The name of my company is deeply rooted in personal meaning and family heritage, making it a heartfelt reflection of the journey that brought us to this moment. It is a combination of my second name, Victoria, and my mother’s last name, Leon. This deliberate choice carries a profound significance, symbolizing the unique partnership my mother and I share. From the very beginning, we worked side by side, supporting each other and nurturing the dream of building something special—a company that would embody our values, creativity, and vision. As I thoughtfully wrestled with what to name my new business, I consulted many online branding resources and considered companies similar to my own. I created a long list of names that I felt represented my leather goods business. As I considered the list, I had my husband and several friends take a look. I asked them to be brutally honest and to eliminate names they did not think fit my brand. With their help, I whittled down my list to three names. Two of the names I liked, but felt they held less meaning than the final name on the list. I realized that the name Kelso Co. fit for two main reasons. First, I felt it was a clean and classy name, similar to my aesthetic. Second, Kelso is the street I live on, and it is where I began my passion for leather crafting. It was here, that I discovered a box of my grandmother’s old leather tools. This discovery is what sparked my interest in leather craft. Kelso is where I started my business and where I enjoy spending time with my family. So, Kelso Co. resonated with me the most as I named my business. Read more>>

Coming up with the name Orlando Food Net took some time because we wanted something that truly represented who we are—foodies at heart. While we loved the idea of including “foodie” in the name, we also wanted to stand out from other incredible foodies in Orlando. Since networking and connecting with the food scene is at the core of what we do, we decided to combine three key elements: Orlando, food, and networking. And just like that, Orlando Food Net was born! Read more>>

Short story long, some context on how became a Home Stager / Art Curator / Realtor / Blogger (because frankly, I didn’t realize I could be all those things at once until it actually happened!) My first job out of college was in Accenture’s management consulting practice, writing and designing corporate communications. I realized how much I loved being creative, and dreamed of one day using my creativity to help people on a more personal level. The world of consulting was filled with long days, late nights, work travel, and lots of “wining and dining” with clients. I wanted a lifestyle change that would give me more control over my schedule, time to cook my own meals, and to know that when the work day was done, I would get to sleep in my own bed at night. Ultimately, I was craving comfort and an outlet for my creativity. Read more>>

When I first made my Instagram account, I know I wanted my name to be included in there, but Ava Soto seems too common. I thought about what I would be doing as a future UGC Creator and knew it would involve media creation for brands. That was the first lightbulb moment. I know whatever I named my business, it would also include my name in someway. Ava seems too common among girl names. However, I remembered that my dad would always call me Aves when I was younger. My business name came to life. I officially named it avesxmedia, where I satisfy brands with their advertising needs! Read more>>

What’s in a name? It seems quite a bit. Something catchy? Perhaps something that encapsulates the business culture? I began my succulent arrangement business with the name Leaf and Thorn. It worked nicely reflecting the succulents and cactus I used in my designs and classes. It also fit that 10 years ago many business names were using the blank AND blank template. As I began to explore opening a brick and mortar shop I felt like I wanted a fresh name to mark this new venture. I chose to create an LLC with Leaf and Thorn and think of a DBA. Has I was expanding into offering houseplants and creating a plant bar for customers to enjoy making their own creations I felt I still wanted to invoke that image. Read more>>

Naming our brand Delphi Brotherss Gear was a natural extension of our love for both our Australian Shepherds, Apollo and Perseus, and our deep interest in Greek mythology. The name “Delphi” is a nod to the ancient Greek site that was once considered the center of the world, where the Oracle of Delphi held profound wisdom. Apollo, the god of the sun, music, and prophecy, inspired our first pup’s name, while Perseus, the hero known for his courage and strength, is equally symbolic of our second dog. Together, they represent the values of wisdom, strength, and adventure that we want to instill in every product we create. The name Delphi Brotherss ties it all together, honoring both our pups and the timeless legacy of Greek mythology, while offering gear that’s built for the modern-day adventure of every dog. Naming anything, especially a business, is incredibly challenging because it has to capture who you are and what you stand for. For me, the name Love Natural Hair Care Products came from a very personal place. Since middle school, I’ve always used the word “Love” as part of my passwords. It’s a word that’s deeply special to me because I didn’t experience much love as a child. That absence made me realize how important love is, and it inspired me to spread love to everyone I meet now as an adult. Read more>>

Naming a business is borderline nerve wrecking. I’m so grateful I’ve settled on the final name(s). Brittany K Collective LLC is a digital marketing and production company that encompasses two dynamic brands: Glamour Connoisseur (GlamConn) and Brittany K., the Model and Influencer. For my first business venture, my beauty business (GlamConn) I went through several name changes in a 7 year span. Once I figured out my goal for the business (my mission) the name pretty much fell in my lap. I’m a Glamour girl at heart. I have been since I was a young girl. I wanted to build a community of experts in all things Glamour. Read more>>
Mía Nalaíde

I love this question because it gives me the perfect opportunity to tell you all how Mía Nalaíde was born. My birth name is Tamia Niambi Aldridge. I was named after the singer Tamia. My middle name is Swahili and it translates to “Melody.” Finally, I’ve taken my dad’s last name. I believe I was a freshman or a sophomore in high school when I created this alter ego. I had this unconfident idea that I wanted to pursue music and one day I thought that if I were going to pursue music, I needed to start coming up with brand ideas. At first, I was drawing clothing designs for merchandise, but then I took a break and started thinking about a name for myself. I know the entire meaning of my name because even at a younger age I wanted to know what my name meant, first to last. I wanted my whole name to be included, but I always felt that my real name was kind of plain, so I decided to spice it up. I went from Tamia to Mia. Read more>>

The name “ALOE” comes from the accounting equation: Assets = Liabilities + Owner’s Equity. This equation states that what you own is equal to what you owe plus your investments. These accounts (assets, liabilities, and owner’s equity) make up a crucial financial statement known as the Balance Sheet. I also chose “ALOE” to evoke a sense of calm and reassurance, especially since finances can often feel overwhelming. Aloe, a soothing plant, symbolizes comfort, and I wanted to similarly convey a sense of financial well-being and support. Read more>>
